    摘要: We disclose a monovinylarene-conjugated diene block copolymer containing a plurality of monovinylarene-conjugated diene mixed blocks, wherein each mixed block contains conjugated diene units and monovinylarene units in a weight ratio of about 0.05 to about 0.33. We also disclose a composition containing (a) from about 50 parts by weight to about 95 parts by weight of the monovinylarene-conjugated diene block copolymer and (b) from about 5 parts by weight to about 50 parts by weight of polystyrene; wherein the monovinylarene-conjugated diene block copolymer and the polystyrene total 100 parts by weight. We further disclose a method of shrink-wrapping an object or a group of objects by wrapping the object or the group of objects with a film containing the composition, to yield a wrapped object or group of objects, and heating the wrapped object or group of objects to a temperature and for a duration sufficient to shrink the film in at least a first direction, to yield a shrink-wrapped object or group of objects.

    摘要: A method for preparing tapered block copolymers which are particularly useful for blend components in blends with polymers of styrene. In the first embodiment of this invention the copolymers are prepared in a polymerization process by sequentially charging: (1) an initiator and monovinylaromatic monomers in the presence of a randomizer; (2) an initiator and monovinylaromatic monomers; (3) a mixture of monovinylaromatic and conjugated diene monomers; and (4) a coupling agent; to produce a polymodal tapered block copolymer. In a second embodiment of the invention tapered block copolymers are prepared in a polymerization process by sequentially charging: (1) an initiator and monovinylaromatic monomers in the presence of a randomizer; (2) an initiator and monovinylaromatic monomers; (3) a mixture of monovinylaromatic and conjugated diene monomers; (4) a mixture of monovinylaromatic and conjugated diene monomers; and (5) a coupling agent; to produce a polymodal tapered block copolymer. The invention copolymers and blends of the invention copolymers with polymers of styrene are particularly useful for applications such as packaging and food or drink containers which require transparency, low blueness, colorlessness, good impact strength and ductility.

    摘要: We disclose a monovinylarene/conjugated diene block copolymer, comprising: (i) a random (conjugated dienex/monovinylareney)m block, wherein x is about 2.5 wt % to about 10 wt %, y is from about 90 wt % to about 97.5 wt %, and x+y is about 97.5 wt % to 100 wt %; and (ii) a (conjugated diene)n block; wherein n is from about 20 wt % to about 30 wt %, m is from about 70 wt % to about 80 wt %, and m+n is from about 90 wt % to 100 wt %. We also disclose a method of forming the block copolymer and a method for fabricating an article from the block copolymer. The block copolymer typically exhibits a Tg at least about 10° C. less than the Tg of a reference polymer differing only in that x is about 0 wt % and y is about 100 wt %.
