摘要: This disclosure provides drilling fluids and additives as well as fracturing fluids and additives that contain cellulose nanofibers and/or cellulose nanocrystals. In some embodiments, hydrophobic nanocellulose is provided which can be incorporated into oil-based fluids and additives. These water-based or oil-based fluids and additives may further include lignosulfonates and other biomass-derived components. Also, these water-based or oil-based fluids and additives may further include enzymes. The drilling and fracturing fluids and additives described herein may be produced using the AVAP® process technology to produce a nanocellulose precursor, followed by low-energy refining to produce nanocellulose for incorporation into a variety of drilling and fracturing fluids and additives.

摘要: A wellbore servicing fluid comprises an aqueous base fluid, one or more alkali metal or alkali earth metal salts, at least one visocisifier, and a filtration control package. The filtration control package may comprise a carboxylic acid and an ethoxylated alcohol compound. Alternatively, the filtration control package may comprise a polyethylene glycol. The carboxylic acid may have from 8 to 20 carbon atoms. The ethoxylated alcohol compound may have a general formula R—(OCH2CH2)X—OH, where R is a hydrocarbon having from 10 to 16 atoms and x is an integer from 6 to 9. The ethoxylated alcohol compound may have a hydrophilic-lipophilic balance of from 8.0 to 16.0. The polyethylene glycol may have a mass average molar mass (Mw) of less than or equal to 1500 daltons.

摘要: Portland cement clinker LCMs that include Portland cement clinker to mitigate or prevent lost circulation in a well are provided. A Portland cement clinker LCM may include Portland cement clinker, Portland cement, a carrier fluid, and an inorganic consolidation activator. Another Portland cement clinker LCM may include Portland cement clinker and a crosslinked fluid, such as a polyuronide crosslinked via calcium ions or a polysaccharide crosslinked via divinyl sulfone. Yet another Portland cement clinker LCM may include Portland cement clinker and polymer fibers or particulate glass. Methods of lost circulation control using a Portland cement clinker LCM are also provided.

摘要: Compositions and methods by which well control may be maintained during well construction, workover or well-intervention operations in a subterranean well without damaging formation are disclosed. A treatment fluid that comprises a carrier fluid, as well as degradable particles, or degradable fibers, or combination thereof is provided or prepared. The treatment fluid is placed in the borehole such that the treatment fluid contacts a liner, a downhole filter, perforations or subterranean formation or combinations thereof. The treatment fluid is allowed to flow into the liner, downhole filter, perforation, natural or induced fracture or subterranean formation such that the particles and fibers form at least one plug or filter cake (or both), preventing or reducing further fluid movement between wellbore and subterranean formation. The fibers and particles are then allowed to dissolve after a period of time, causing the plug or filter cake (or both) to weaken, thereby allowing removal of the plug or filter cake (or both) and reestablishing fluid movement between formation and the wellbore.

摘要: Fluid additives suitable for use in a wellbore (e.g., a liquid comprising an aqueous miscible fluid, a liquid surfactant, or both) may be converted into a liquid-infiltrated porous silica that is a flowable bulk solid. The flowable bulk solid may then be handled and stored as a traditional solid wellbore additive. For example, the flowable bulk solid may be added to an aqueous fluid to produce a wellbore fluid that is then introduced into a wellbore penetrating a subterranean formation.

摘要: A fluid pressure transmission pill (FPTP) having an ultra-high viscosity for use in association with hydrocarbon drilling and exploration operations, particularly, managed pressure drilling (MPD) operations, is described. The ultra-high viscosity pill is a weighted pill composition that includes a hydrocarbon fluid, a thixotropic viscosifying agent, one or more activators, an emulsifier/wetting agent, a fluid loss control additive, and a weighting material. In accordance with selected aspects of the described fluid pressure transmission pill, the ratio of the amount of the thixotropic viscosifying agent to the activator is a ratio of about 7:1, and the weighting material is a barium-containing solid-phase material. Also described are methods of use of such FPTP products in subterranean operations, such as well killing operations during managed pressure drilling.

摘要: Disclosed is an alkaline earth metal peroxide concentrate, or fluidized suspension, for addition to aqueous hydraulic fracturing fluids to efficiently decrease the viscosity of the hydrated, hydrophilic polysaccharide polymer in the system. The concentrate comprises a hydrophobic, water insoluble liquid, an organophilic clay suspension agent, a polar activator, a sparingly-soluble alkaline earth metal peroxide, and an anionic surfactant. Advantageously, these concentrations, or suspensions, exhibit high flash points, making them easier to transport using commercial transportation means.

摘要: Working fluids, such as drilling fluids, may remove heat from other fluids, tools, equipments and environments and transfer it to other locations by using reversible phase change elements. The heat removal occurs through the absorption of heat by one or more phase transitions or a sequence of phase transitions in the elements of the working fluid. For instance, heat is absorbed when the phase change portions of the reversible phase change elements change phase including, but not necessarily limited to, a change from solid to smectic liquid crystal, from solid to nematic liquid crystal, from smectic liquid crystal to isotropic liquid, from nematic liquid crystal to isotropic liquid, from solid to isotropic liquid, and sequences and combinations thereof. Heat is released when the phase change reverses. These phase changes are first-order transitions and are associated with a latent heat or enthalpy.

摘要: The present invention relates to the well drilling field in petroleum industry, in particular to an additive composition suitable for viscosity reduction of oil-based drilling fluids, an oil-based drilling fluid and use thereof. The double-block copolymer mainly consists of a block A and a block B, wherein, the block A is composed of structural units represented by formula (1), the block B is composed of structural units represented by formula (2), and the number-average molecular weight of the block A is 1,500-10,000. The double-block copolymer provided in the present invention can be used as a viscosity reducer in oil-based drilling fluids, especially can be used as a viscosity reducer in high-density clay-free oil-based drilling fluids, and can greatly decrease the apparent viscosity and plastic viscosity of oil-based drilling fluids in high-temperature and high-pressure reservoir while maintaining appropriate shearing force, so as to increase the drilling rate and reduce drilling difficulties.
