摘要： A liquid crystal composition and a liquid crystal display including the liquid crystal composition that includes a first class containing a fluorine-containing liquid crystal compound represented by Formula I (n=1, 2, or 3), and a second class containing at least one neutral liquid crystal compound represented by Formulae III, IV, and V. In Formula I, W1 and W2 are each independently selected from the group consisting of —F, —CF3, —CF2H, —OCF3, and —OCF2H, the liquid crystal compounds represented by Formulae I, III, IV, and V have R1, R2, and R5 to R10 that are any one of a hydrogen atom, and an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, and an alkenyl group having 1 to 12 carbon atoms as terminal groups, and a first sub-class has a content of 6 wt % or less based on a total content of the first class and the second class, with the proviso that a liquid crystal compound of the first class having n=1 is the first sub-class and a liquid crystal compound of the first class having n=2 or 3 is a second sub-class.

摘要： The present invention discloses a liquid crystal composition having a first class compound including a fluorine-containing compound, and a second class compound including a neutral liquid crystal compound, where each terminal group of the neutral crystal compound includes an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, or an alkenyl group. If the neutral liquid crystal compound includes an alkenyl group at the terminal group, the liquid crystal composition includes less than 7 wt % of the neutral crystal compound including the alkenyl group. The present invention also discloses a liquid crystal display including the aforementioned liquid crystal composition.

摘要： Liquid crystalline compounds superior in having an eminent dielectric anisotropy, being stable against environment and having improved miscibility with other liquid crystalline compounds, as well as a liquid crystal composition with driving-ability at a low voltage and responsibility at a high-speed comprising the compounds as a constituting component, and a liquid crystal display element comprising the composition are provided, said compounds are fluoroalkoxybenzene derivatives expressed by the general formula (1) wherein A1, A2 and A3 each independently denote trans-1,4-cyclohexylene,1,4-phenylene or so; B, B2 and B3 each independently denote a single bond, 1,2-ethylene or so; R denotes an alkyl group having 1 to 15 carbon atoms optionally substitutable with a halogen atom(s); Rf denotes a fluoroalkyl group having 1 to 3 carbon; k, m, and n each independently denote 0 or 1; with the proviso that when k=0 is a case, then one of B1, B2 and B3 is a methyleneoxy bond or so, and that when m+n≧1 is a case, then dependency of A1, A2 and A3 is partly restricted and content of Rf is partly limited when B1 or/and B2 and B3 are all single bonds.

摘要： The present invention provides liquid crystalline compounds having a high voltage holding ratio and a low threshold voltage, little variation of these properties depending on temperature change, high &Dgr;n, and good compatibility with other liquid crystal materials particularly under a low temperature; liquid crystal compositions containing these crystalline compounds; and liquid crystal display devices comprising these liquid crystal compositions. The liquid crystalline compounds are terphenyl derivatives represented by general formula (1): wherein R represents a straight or branched alkyl group of 1-20 carbon atoms, and any methylene groups (—CH2—) not adjacent each other in each alkyl group may be replaced by oxygen atoms; X represents halogen atom, —OCF3, —OCF2H, —CF3, —CF2H or —CFH2; Y1, Y2, Y3, Y4, Y5 and Y6 independently represents H or F, but at least two of Y1, Y2, Y3 and Y4 represent F; and any atom constituting these compounds may be substituted by its isotope.
