摘要: A liquid crystal display (LCD) device and a driving method can produce reduced direct current image sticking and flicker. An LCD panel for the LCD device has liquid crystal cells having a common same color in each horizontal line and has columns of liquid crystal cells having a repeating sequence of color, a timing controller for generating a polarity control signal such that the polarity control signal is varied at intervals of one frame period, a data driving circuit supplying data voltages to the data lines in response to the polarity control signal, and a gate driving circuit supplying scan pulses to the gate lines. The liquid crystal cells include first liquid crystal cell groups supplied with data voltages having polarities inverted from polarities the previous frame period, and second liquid crystal cell groups supplied with data voltages having polarities identical to the polarities supplied in the previous frame period.

摘要: A liquid crystal display device includes a data transition part to compare a number of transitions between a previous data and a current data to selectively invert the current data and to generate a reverse signal, a memory to store the data from the data transition part and to output the stored data as the previous frame data, a data reverse transition part to reversely convert the data from the memory using the reverse signal, a lookup table to compare the current data and the previous frame data reversely converted by the data reverse transition part to select a modulated data, and a display drive circuit to display the data from the lookup table on a liquid crystal display panel.

摘要: An apparatus and method for driving an LCD device is disclosed, in which an inversion method of an LCD panel is changed depending on a specific pattern of image data so as to improve picture quality of images displayed on the LCD panel. The apparatus for driving an LCD device includes an LCD panel displaying images, a polarity control signal generator comparing image data with pattern data previously stored for the unit of frame and generating a polarity control signal in accordance with the compared result, a data driver converting an inversion method in accordance with the polarity control signal and supplying the received image data to the LCD panel, a gate driver supplying scan pulses to the LCD panel, and a timing controller controlling the data driver and the gate driver.

The LCD device includes a frame rate adjusting circuit for controlling a frame rate to be maintained at a 1-fold rate in frame periods other than an Nth frame period (“N” is a multiple of 8 or more), while being increased to an “i”-fold-accelerated rate (“i” is a positive integer of 2 or more) in the Nth frame period, to output reference timing signals in the frame periods other than the Nth frame period, and to output accelerated timing signals in the Nth frame period, a timing controller for generating data and gate timing control signals, based on at least one of each reference timing signal and each accelerated timing signal, and a logic circuit for accelerating a frequency of a polarity control signal in the Nth frame period.
