    摘要: A video recording and playback device has a control track recorder for recording a control track signal including timing edges recorded on a tape or other storage medium together with the video program. A decoder is coupled to the control track signal and to the tape drive for switching among a forward play mode, a forward skip mode and a rewind mode, as a function of play, skip and rewind codes inserted into the control track as phase variations of edges other than those used for timing, or preferably as pulses with sloping edges distinct from the timing edges. In addition to selectively skipping sections of the video program preceded by a skip code and followed by a play code, such as commercial breaks, the device permits user editing of play and skip codes and selective multiple replays of sections of the video program preceded by a play code and followed by a rewind code. Replay can be continuous or for a predetermined number of replays, encoded in the control track signal with the play, skip or rewind codes. The play, skip and rewind codes and/or the number of play repetitions are user editable from an on screen menu for changing the content to be presented during a later playback.

    摘要: There is disclosed a communications terminal, including a video telephone, for transmitting and receiving video and audio. The terminal includes video recording apparatus and video reproduction apparatus with the video recording apparatus being switchable into an "off" mode by operation of a flap. In order to use the transmission capacity of the communications terminal even when the flap is closed, an image which already exists in a video memory is transmitted. A changeover is automatically made to the video memory by operation of the flap.

    摘要: A pulse code modulated audio signal transmission system which compensates for signal interference in the pulse code modulated audio signal. The system includes a first device for receiving an audio signal and for converting the audio signal into a pulse code modulated audio signal, and a second device for receiving the audio signal and for producing an auxiliary signal corresponding to the audio signal but having a smaller bandwidth than the audio signal. A transmission circuit is connected to the first and second devices for receiving the pulse code modulated audio signal and the auxiliary signal and for producing an output signal which comprises the audio signal with portions of the audio signal which contain interference being substituted with corresponding portions of the auxiliary signal.

    摘要: In the voice control of a device appertaining to consumer electronics, speech inputs of a user are converted into digitized voice signals. First features, which are characteristic of the individual sounds of the speech, and thus permit recognition of the spoken sounds, are extracted from the digitized voice signals. Furthermore, second features, which permit a characterization of the voice of the respective user and are used for distinguishing between the speech inputs of different users, are extracted from the digitized voice signals. This enables the device being operated to distinguish between speech inputs of the present user, which represent operator-control commands, and utterances by other persons, and to respond only to operator-control commands of the present user. Furthermore, the quality of an analysis of the viewing habits of different users can be improved by a distinction between the users.
