A Packet Data Service Node (PDSN) receives a BCMCS content frame from the BCMCS server, and transmits a corresponding Generic Routing Encapsulation (GRE) packet BCMCS content frame, including a sequence number and a timestamp value indicating when the GRE packet BCMCS content frame is transmitted, to Packet Control Functions (PCF) connected downstream of the PDSN. Each of the PCFs determines whether the GRE packet BCMCS content frame received from the PDSN is valid, based on the sequence number included therein. If the GRE packet BCMCS content frame is valid, the PCF transmits the frame to its lower nodes connected downstream of the PCF, while synchronizing the frame transmission, based on the timestamp value included in the frame.

In the system and method, the access network receives a de-registration message for a release request of a BCMCS service from the access terminal. The access network transmits a BCMCS release message including BCMCS information with a release request, to the packet control function. The packet data service node maps IP QoS information to be transmitted to the access terminal to QoS information needed in the access network, and transmits the mapping result to the access network via the packet control function. The access terminal receives data including QoS information from the packet data service node, and performs communication according to the QoS information.

Disclosed is a method for providing a broadcast service in a mobile communication system using code division multiple access (CDMA) technology. The novel method controls transmission of broadcast service data according to base station areas by registering a mobile station with a broadcast service. For that purpose, the mobile station requests an authentication server to authenticate a desired broadcast service, and registers the authenticated broadcast service in a packet data serving node via a base station so that the base station and the packet data serving node can set up a transmission path for the broadcast service. The method increases the efficiency of base station resources by controlling transmission times of base stations, and the packet data serving node can perform accounting on the broadcast service of the mobile station. Further, a plurality of registered mobile stations constitute a group, and broadcast service data is transmitted from one mobile station to other mobile stations within the group.

A system and method providing a BCMCS service at a handoff in a mobile communication system is provided. The mobile communication system includes an AT for receiving a BCMCS service, a source AN for providing the BCMCS service to the AT, and a PCF connected to a plurality of ANs, for constructing broadcasting BCMCS service data received from a higher-layer network in the form of packet data, and providing the packet data to a predetermined AN connected to the PCF. To implement a handoff for the AT, the PCF checks, upon receipt of a handoff request message from the AT through the source AN, the ID of a target AN and the ID of the BCMCS service set in the handoff request message, and sets up a BCMCS bearer for the BCMCS service with the target AN, if the target AN is one of the ANs connected to the PCF.
