The symbol modulation method includes multiplying an input stream of an Inverse Fast Fourier Transform (IFFT) unit by a Twiddling factor for circular-shifting the input stream of the IFFT unit by a Cyclic Prefix (CP) length; performing IFFT on the input stream of the IFFT unit, which is multiplied by the Twiddling factor; buffering data corresponding to the CP length beginning from a front of an output stream of the IFFT unit; and generating an OFDM symbol by forward-copying the buffered data to a back of the output stream of the IFFT unit.

An apparatus and method for Transmission Time Interval (TTI) reconfiguration in a mobile communication system are provided. The apparatus includes an ACK/NACK determiner, an ACK/NACK controller, and a TTI controller. The ACK/NACK determiner determines if a response signal to be transmitted is ACKnowledgment (ACK) or Non ACKnowledgment (NACK) depending on an error or non-error of data received from a User Equipment (UE). The ACK/NACK controller counts the ACK and NACK determined in the ACK/NACK determiner. The TTI controller identifies if number of the latest ACKs counted in the ACK/NACK controller is continuously generated by preset number of times and, if it is continuously generated by the present number of times, reconfigures a new TTI.

The method comprises determining a modulation technique to be used at retransmission as a modulation technique having a lower modulation order than a modulation technique used at initial transmission; determining a puncturing pattern according to an HARQ (Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request) type, and selecting as many coded bits as the number of coded bits that can be symbol-mapped by the determined modulation technique, among the coded bits punctured by the determined puncturing pattern; and symbol-mapping the selected coded bits by the determined modulation technique, and transmitting the symbol-mapped coded bits to the receiver.

Disclosed is a data transmission/reception apparatus and method for minimizing decoding errors during high-speed packet transmission in a CDMA mobile communication system. When retransmitting data in the Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (“H-ARQ”) technique, the data transmission/reception apparatus and method performs symbol mapping on coded bits to be retransmitted by allocating different reliabilities to the coded bits according to the number of retransmissions, thus resulting in an improvement of system performance.

First and second code symbol sequences are generated by encoding a data symbol sequence for transmission in a predetermined encoding method. Transmission of the two code symbol sequences through the first and second transmit antennas is controlled such that if the data symbol sequence is initially transmitted, the first code symbol sequence is transmitted through the first transmit antenna and the second code symbol sequence is transmitted through the second transmit antenna and, if the data symbol sequence is retransmitted, the first code symbol sequence is transmitted through the second transmit antenna and the second code symbol sequence is transmitted through the first transmit antenna.

A call decider analyzes bring-up call information associated with a phone number mapped to a predetermined character among the collected bring-up call information, numerically quantizes the analyzed bring-up call information, and determines the growth stage of the character according to the numerical bring-up call information. A character controller updates the appearance and state of the character according to the growth stage of the character. A display displays the updated appearance and state of the character.
