摘要: A method is described for the reading of a bar code consisting of a predetermined number of code elements for the generation of a binary signal with sequential high and low phases, the lengths of which correspond to the width of the sequential code elements, in particular with a reading direction extending obliquely to the code elements. The code elements are sensed by one or more sensing beams of a bar code reader along scanning lines extending substantially parallel to one another, with each region of a code element scanned by a scanning line forming a code element section. For substantially each scanning line those code segments which consist of a code element section, or a plurality of sequential code element sections, are detected, which are recognized as permissible code segments on the basis of preset decision criteria. A reference code element is found from mutually associated code element sections, each representing the same code element of the bar code for different scanning lines, and the binary signal is produced from the reference code elements. Furthermore, an apparatus is described for carrying out the method.

摘要: A method is described for the reading of a bar code consisting of a predetermined number of code elements for the production of a binary signal with sequential high and low phases the length of which correspond to the width of the sequential code elements. In the method the code elements are scanned by the scanning beam or by a plurality of scanning beams of a bar code reader along scanning lines extending substantial parallel to one another. During this the sweeping of the scanning beam over the bar code defines a scan and a scanning plane is defined by each scanning beam when sweeping over the bar code. The angle of tilt between the respective scanning plane and A predetermined reference plane is determined for essentially each scan. During the decoding of the bar code the angles of tilt thus found are evaluated to compensate for grid errors, i.e. for irregular spacings between adjacent scanning lines. Furthermore, a method for the compensation of fluctuations in the scanning speed and also an apparatus for carrying out the method are described.

摘要: A wireless input device may negotiate a predefined transmit/receive schedule with a receiving device (i.e., PC, PDA, cellular device). To conserve power, the wireless components of the input device are powered down during periods of non-transmission. The wireless input device detects intermediate user input and corresponding data according to a detection rate during periods of non-transmission. The intermediate data is then transmitted to the receiving device during a transmission period along with a current data detected at the time of transmission. The wireless device may further discard any intermediate data which does not reflect a significant change. Additionally, the system and method may include a detection rate that adapts to degrees of user activity detected by the wireless input device.

摘要: Naphtholactamsquaric acid dyes of the formula ##STR1## where R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 independently of one another are each unsubstituted or substituted C.sub.3 -C.sub.22 -alkyl, in which the alkyl chain may be interrupted by oxygen atoms, or are each unsubstituted or substituted C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -aralkyl, unsubstituted or substituted C.sub.5 -C.sub.7 -cycloalkyl or unsubsituted or substituted phenyl, and the rings A, B, C and D are unsubstituted or substituted and/or benzofused, and optical recording materials consisting of a base and a layer which is sensitive to laser light and is composed of a thermoplastic or crosslinked polymer and one or more dyes (I).Because of the high light absorption of (I), the recording materials are very sensitive to light from the GaAlAs semiconductor laser. An excellent signal-to-noise ratio is obtained on reading the recordings.

摘要: A control apparatus (1) for controlling an electrical load (2) has a housing (28), a plug (12) mounted to the housing (28) for connecting the control apparatus (1) to the power outlet (4), a socket (10) mounted to the housing (28) for connecting the control apparatus (1) to the electrical load (2), and a receiver unit (6) mounted within the housing (28) and coupled to the plug (12) and the socket (10). In use, the receiver unit (6) receives a control signal that is indicative of an impending congestion period. Upon receipt of the control signal, the receiver unit (6) interrupts supply of power to the socket (10) and, hence, switches the electrical load (2) off.

摘要: A method for operating an optical sensor which has a light receptor that receives line-by-line reflected or returned light for a complete picture. At least some of the received pictures are compressed with a picture compression algorithm. To process the picture and more quickly store it in a memory-saving manner, the optoelectronic sensors compress the picture simultaneously with its receipt by the receptor. Optoelectronic sensors for use in this manner can be a code laser or a laser scanner for determining distance or generating separation pictures.
