Abstract: According to one embodiment, there is provided a nonaqueous electrolyte battery. The nonaqueous electrolyte battery includes a positive electrode, a negative electrode and a nonaqueous electrolyte. The negative electrode includes a negative electrode material layer. The negative electrode material layer includes a negative electrode active material capable of absorbing and releasing lithium at a potential of 0.78 V (vs. Li/Li+) or more. A film containing a compound having a propylene glycol backbone is formed on at least a part of a surface of the negative electrode material layer. Abstract: According to one embodiment, an electrode is provided. The electrode includes a current collector and an active material-containing layer formed on the current collector. The active material-containing layer contains a lithium nickel cobalt manganese composite oxide and a lithium cobalt composite oxide. Pore size distribution obtained by mercury intrusion porosimetry for the active material-containing layer has a first peak top indicating a highest intensity I1 within a pore size range of from 0.1 μm to 1 μm and a second peak top indicating an intensity I2 which is a second highest intensity after the highest intensity I1 within the pore size range of from 0.1 μm to 1 μm. A pore size at the first peak top is smaller than a pore size at the second peak top.
