Abstract: The present invention relates to an ink-jet printing method that is capable of obtaining good printed materials that are free of occurrence of color migration and deformation of a printing medium even when printed on a resin printing medium. The present invention provides an ink-jet printing method using a water-based ink containing a black ink, a chromatic ink and a white ink which each contain a pigment (A), an organic solvent (C) having a boiling point of not lower than 90° C. and lower than 250° C., and water, said method including step 1 of ejecting at least one water-based ink selected from the group consisting of the black ink and the chromatic ink onto a transparent resin printing medium to print an image 1 on the printing medium; step 2 of ejecting the white ink onto the resulting image 1 to print a white image that covers the image 1 on the printing medium; and step 3 of heating and drying the resulting printed material from a side of a surface of the printing medium on which the white image is formed, using an infrared heater.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a resin particle dispersion containing core/shell-type resin particles (A), a glycol ether (B) and water, in which a core portion resin of the core/shell-type resin particles (A) contains a constitutional unit derived from a (meth)acrylic acid ester containing a hydrocarbon group having 2 to 18 carbon atoms in an amount of not less than 40% by mass on the basis of constitutional units constituting the core portion resin, and an acid value of the core/shell-type resin particles (A) is 50 to 100 mgKOH/g; and in which a hydrocarbon group in an ether moiety of the glycol ether (B) has 2 to 8 carbon atoms, and a content of the glycol ether (B) in the resin particle dispersion is not less than 2.8% by mass. The resin particle dispersion according to the present invention can be used as an aqueous ink that is excellent in storage stability and substrate-adhesion properties.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an ink-jet printing method using a water-based ink containing a rutile-type titanium oxide and a polymer dispersant, in which the polymer dispersant contains a constitutional unit derived from an anionic group-containing monomer selected from the group consisting of acrylic acid, methacrylic acid and the like in an amount of not less than 72% by mass; Mw of the polymer dispersant is from 3,000 to 50,000; and a content of the polymer dispersant in the water-based ink is from 1 to 7% by mass on the basis of the titanium oxide, said method including the step 1 of redispersing the water-based ink by a dispersing means and the step 2 of printing characters or images on a printing medium using the redispersed water-based ink. According to the ink-jet printing method of the present invention, even though the titanium oxide is precipitated, it is possible to readily redisperse the titanium oxide in the water-based ink by simple stirring operations, and further by using the water-based ink whose properties can be rapidly restored owing to excellent foam suppressing properties and defoaming properties thereof, it is possible to attain good ejection properties of the ink.

Abstract: The present invention relates to [1] a process for producing pigment-containing modified polymer particles, including the step of reacting pigment-containing polymer particles (A) containing a functional group and a compound (B) containing a reactive group capable of reacting with the functional group of the polymer particles (A) in a medium under such a condition that a ratio [(B)/(A)] of total moles of the reactive group of the compound (B) to total moles of the functional group of the polymer particles (A) is from 0.10 to 0.62; [2] a pigment water dispersion including an aqueous medium and the modified polymer particles produced by the aforementioned process which are dispersed in the aqueous medium; and [3] an ink including the aforementioned pigment water dispersion and an organic solvent. The modified polymer particles are free from formation of coarse particles upon production of pigment particles, so that an ink obtained by using the modified polymer particles can be prevented from suffering from increase in viscosity thereof when the ink is being concentrated by evaporation of water from the ink, and is excellent in rub fastness when printed on a low-water absorbing recording medium.
