Abstract: The present invention relates to a cleaning liquid for a water-based ink that contains a pigment and a water-insoluble polymer, said cleaning liquid containing (A) a surfactant, (B) a water-soluble organic solvent containing (b-1) diethylene glycol monoisopropyl ether, and water, in which the surfactant (A) contains at least one compound selected from the group consisting of (a-1) an acetylene glycol or an ethyleneoxide adduct of the acetylene glycol, and (a-2) a polyethylene glycol alkyl ether containing an alkyl group having not less than 8 carbon atoms or a polyethylene glycol aryl ether containing an aryl group having not less than 6 carbon atoms, and a content of the water-soluble organic solvent (B) in the cleaning liquid is from 5 to 30% by mass; and a method of cleaning a water-based ink using the cleaning liquid.

Abstract: The present invention provides a water-based ink for ink-jet printing which is excellent in ejection stability and storage stability, in particular, excellent in quick-drying fixing properties and image uniformity when printing characters or images on a low-water absorbing recording medium, and an image forming method using the water-based ink. The present invention relates to [1] a water-based ink for ink-jet printing, including a pigment, a water-insoluble polymer, an organic solvent (C) and water, in which the organic solvent (C) includes diethylene glycol isopropyl ether (DEGPE) and an organic solvent (c2) having a 1-octanol/water partition coefficient that is smaller than that of DEGPE; a total content of the pigment, the water-insoluble polymer and DEGPE in the water-based ink is not less than 5.0% by mass; and a value obtained by multiplying a total content of the pigment and the water-insoluble polymer in the water-based ink by a content of DEGPE in the water-based ink is from 10 and 300; and [2] an image forming method including the steps of mounting a container filled with the water-based ink to an ink-jet printing apparatus equipped with an ink ejecting means; and ejecting the ink onto a recording medium having a water absorption of from 0 to 10 g/m2 as measured by contacting with pure water for 100 ms to print characters or images thereon.

The resin particle dispersion according to the present invention can be used as an aqueous ink that is excellent in storage stability and substrate-adhesion properties.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a water-based ink including a pigment, a water-insoluble polymer, an organic solvent and a surfactant, in which the organic solvent includes at least a glycol ether which has a viscosity of from 2.0 to 7.0 mPa·s and a vapor pressure from 0.01 to 7.0 hPa as measured at 20° C., and a content of a glycol ether having a viscosity of not less than 6.0 mPa·s as measured at 20° C. as a component of the glycol ether in the water-based ink is from 0 to 5% by mass; the surfactant includes a silicone-based surfactant and a content of the silicone-based surfactant in the water-based ink is from 0.005 to 0.3% by mass; a content of the organic solvent in the water-based ink is from 25 to 50% by mass; and a content of a high-boiling organic solvent in the water-based ink is not more than 5% by mass, an ink set for ink-jet printing including two or more kinds of water-based inks which are each constituted of the aforementioned water-based ink, and an ink-jet printing method including the steps of ejecting the aforementioned water-based ink onto a printing medium, and further ejecting the water-based ink onto the printing medium to overstrike the water-based ink onto the water-based ink that has been ejected onto the printing medium in the previous step. The water-based ink of the present invention is excellent in continuous ejection properties, and is capable of obtaining good printed materials that are free of roller transfer contamination and intercolor bleeding owing to overstriking of the inks even when printed on a non-water absorbing printing medium.

Abstract: A resin particle dispersion containing core/shell-type resin particles and water is described. A shell portion resin of the core/shell-type resin particles contains a constitutional unit derived from a (meth)acrylic acid ester containing a hydrocarbon group having from 4 to 8 carbon atoms. A core portion resin of the core/shell-type resin particles contains a constitutional unit derived from a (meth)acrylamide-based monomer whose solubility parameter lies within the range of from 17.0 to 21.0 (J/cm3)0.5 in an amount of not less than 5% by mass, and a glass transition temperature of the core portion resin is not higher than 50° C. An acid value of the core/shell-type resin particles is from 50 to 100 mgKOH/g. A process for producing the resin particle dispersion and a printing method using the resin particle dispersion is also described.
