418,075. Filters. AKTIEBOLAGET KEMISKA PATENTER, Landskrona, Germany. July 31, 1933, No. 21486. Convention date, Sept. 6, 1932. [Class 46.] Filtering and washing of separated solid matter take place as an endless filter band, supported by an endless rubber or other elastic band, formed with apertures, passes horizontally over one or more suction boxes, with the smooth edges of which the carrier band makes tight contact. A second elastic and perforated or porous band may be arranged intermediate the filter band and the carrier band. The intermediate band or the carrier band may be ribbed or grooved. The Figure shows an arrangement comprising an elastic carrier band a having outwardly-turned edges, a filter band e, a suction box c, with draw-off connection 11 for filtrate and wash liquor, washliquor supply nozzles i , and a hopper k for supplying the material under treatment. The filter cloth, from which the cake is discharged as the cloth passes round the roller b is washed by water from nozzles f, or, if the cloth is longer than the band a, by a nozzle g. The suction box may be adjustable either vertically or horizontally. The suction box may also be divided into sections by transverse partitions which can be moved longitudinally or turned about axes. The space between the nozzles i and the band may be divided into sections by longitudinally and vertically adjustable partitions having flexible lower ends or provided with rollers at their lower ends.
