Abstract: A crosslinked resin made up of polymerized units of a linear polyamine with at least 3 primary and/or secondary amine functionalities and a bisacrylamide. The crosslinked polymers are porous spherical particles with a BET surface area in the range of 50-120 m2/g. A method of the synthesizing the crosslinked polymer is specified. A method for using the crosslinked resin as an adsorbent material in removing pollutants including organic dyes (e.g. Congo red, Rhodamine B) and heavy metals from an aqueous solution or an industrial wastewater sample is also described.

Abstract: A filtration membrane including a first layer comprising a polyester terephthalate nonwoven fabric, a second layer comprising a polyvinylidene fluoride matrix doped with a polyvinylpyrrolidone and titanium dioxide nanoparticles, and a third layer comprising a polypyrrole polymer. A method of making the membrane is also described. The membrane of the present disclosure is self-cleaning under visible light irradiation conditions.

Abstract: A filtration membrane including a first layer having a triamine-functionalized polysilicate mesoporous material, a second layer including a polysulfone; and a third layer including a polyester terephthalate is described. An orthosilicate group of the triamine-functionalized polysilicate mesoporous material is bonded to a silicon atom of a silicon-containing triamine to form a triamine-functionalized polysilicate backbone, wherein the silicon-containing triamine and one or more tetramines are covalently crosslinked with terephthaloyl chloride to form a polyamide, and wherein the triamine-functionalized polysilicate mesoporous material has a hierarchical structure of MCM-41. The membrane is adapted for use selected from the use group consisting of oil and water separation, water treatment, desalination, and pharmaceutical filtration.

The triamine-functionalized copper oxide polysilicate mesoporous material includes a copper oxide polysilicate backbone and a silicon atom of a silicon-containing triamine bonded to a silicate group in the copper oxide polysilicate backbone. The copper oxide polysilicate backbone is datively bonded to one or more tetramines, and the silicon-containing triamine and one or more tetramines are covalently cross-linked with terephthaloyl chloride to form a polyamide.

Abstract: A membrane including a polysulfone/polyethylene terephthalate (PSf/PET) support and an active layer on an outer surface of the PSf/PET support. The active layer comprises reacted units of a diacyl chloride compound, a tetra-amine compound, and a nanocomposite including graphitic carbon nitride and polypyrrole. The membrane of the present disclosure is self-cleaning following exposure to radiation and finds application in water decontamination and de-salination.

Abstract: A ceramic membrane includes an alumina (Al2O3) layer; and a polyamide nanocomposite layer at least partially covering a surface of the alumina layer. The polyamide nanocomposite layer contains polyamide-functionalized silicon carbide (SiC) nanoparticles having an average particle size of 0.1 to 1 micrometer (μm), an amine-functionalized SiC moiety, an acyl aryl moiety, and a piperazine moiety. The amine-functionalized SiC moiety contains a SiC core and an amine functionalized silicon dioxide (SiO2) shell covering the SiC core. The amine-functionalized SiC moiety is covalently bonded to the piperazine moiety via the acyl aryl moiety; and the amine functionalized SiO2 shell contains at least one amino group containing structural unit that is covalently bonded to the SiO2 shell.

Abstract: A method of separating an oil and water mixture including contacting the oil and water mixture with a membrane, where only the water in the oil and water mixture passes through the membrane. The membrane includes an alumina support and polypyrrole. A layer of the polypyrrole is hydrogen bonded to an outer layer of the alumina support, where particles of the polypyrrole are in the form of globules having a longest dimension of 100 to 300 nm.
