Abstract: Disclosed are a catalyst for a fuel cell having excellent performance and durability, a method for manufacturing same, and a membrane-electrode assembly comprising same. The catalyst for a fuel cell of the present invention comprises: a support; and PtCo alloy particles supported on the support, wherein the PtCo alloy particles comprise a transition metal-doped or transition metal-partially alloyed surface that is modified with at least one transition metal selected from the group consisting of V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, W, and Mo, or a transition metal-doped or transition metal-partially alloyed internal region including the transition metal.

Abstract: Disclosed are a catalyst, a method for producing the catalyst, an electrode comprising the catalyst, a membrane-electrode assembly comprising the electrode, and a fuel cell comprising the membrane-electrode assembly, the catalyst having superb catalytic activity that can be obtained by means of a simple post-treatment process of the raw catalyst. The catalyst according to the present invention comprises a support, and metal particles supported therein, wherein the metal particles comprise main particles and an additional metal layer thereon, and the main particles and additional metal layer comprise the same metal elements. The metal particles have a budding structure or a rod structure by having just a particular latticed active surface of the main particles grow to form the additional metal layer, or a core-shell structure by having the entire latticed active surface of the main particles grow to form the additional metal layer.

Abstract: Disclosed are a manufacturing method of a membrane electrode assembly capable of increasing the interfacial adhesion between a polymer electrolyte membrane and a catalyst layer, improving substance delivery and performance, and enhancing hydrogen permeation resistance or oxygen permeability; a membrane electrode assembly manufactured thereby; and a fuel cell comprising the membrane electrode assembly. The manufacturing method of the present invention comprises the steps of: adding a catalyst and a first ionomer to a solvent and dispersing the same, thereby producing a dispersed mixture; adding a second ionomer to the dispersed mixture, thereby producing a coating composition; and applying the coating composition directly onto at least one side of the polymer electrolyte membrane.

The electrode improves catalyst performance and durability in a high voltage range, can reduce the amount of a catalyst used and catalyst costs by enabling excellent current density and power density to be obtained even in a state that a relatively small amount of the catalyst is used through an increase in catalyst utilization and uniform dispersion of the catalyst, and improves performance in general and low humidification conditions.-

Abstract: A nanostructured electrode for a polymer electrolyte fuel cell, a manufacturing method thereof, and a fuel cell including the nanostructured electrode are provided. The nanostructured electrode includes: a three-dimensional nanostructure including a nanoporous aerogel and an ionomer surrounding the surface of the aerogel; and a catalyst dispersed in the three-dimensional nanostructure. The electrode can obtain excellent current density and power density even with a relatively small amount of catalyst by having improved catalyst performance due to nanostructuring of an ionomer, uniform catalyst dispersion and increased catalyst utilization ratio, can also obtain a price reduction effect through a decrease in the amount of catalyst used, and is excellent in the mass transfer efficiency and low humidification performance.
