Abstract: There is provided a system (100) for detecting paralysis, weakness or numbness. A processor (102) acquires data obtained by a sensor (106) of a personal care device (104) used by a subject on a first part of their body and compares this data to reference data obtained by the sensor used by the subject on a second part of their body to determine whether the acquired data comprises an abnormality. The acquired data is indicative of a manner in which the subject used the device on the first part and/or a physiological property of that part. The reference data is indicative of a manner in which the subject used the device on the second part and/or a physiological property of that part. The processor detects paralysis, weakness or numbness in the first or a third part of the body of the subject when the acquired data comprises an abnormality.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a patient positioning adaptive guidance system (10), comprising: a medical image acquisition unit (20); at least one communication unit (30); at least one camera (40); and a processing unit (50). The medical image acquisition unit is configured to acquire a medical image of a patient. The processing unit is configured to control the at least one communication unit to provide body positioning information to the patient prior to acquisition of the medical image. One or more cameras of the at least one camera is configured to acquire position and movement image data of the patient associated with the provision of the body position information to the patient. The processing unit is configured to determine if the patient has not reached a required position due to a physical or cognitive limitation, the determination comprising utilisation of the body positioning information and the position and movement image data of the patient, wherein a determination is made that the patient has not reached the required position due to a physical limitation based on a determination that the patient has moved in a correct direction, and wherein a determination is made that the patient has not reached the required position due to a cognitive limitation based on a determination that the patient has moved in an incorrect direction or has not undertaken a substantive movement. The processing unit is configured to adapt the body positioning information in at least one first manner based on a determination that the patient has not reached the required position due to a physical limitation. The processing unit is configured to adapt the body positioning information in at least one second manner based on a determination that the patient has not reached the required position due to a cognitive limitation.

Abstract: According to an aspect, there is provided a method of sending a message to a subject, the method comprising obtaining (30; 502) measurements of one or more physiological characteristics of a subject over time; determining (32; 504) a psychological state of the subject for a plurality of time periods from the measurements; and in the event that it is determined that the subject is in a psychological state of interest in a first time period, sending (34; 514) a message to the subject in a time period subsequent to the first time period in which it is determined that the subject is not in the psychological state of interest.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a medical system (100, 300, 500) comprising: a memory (110) storing machine executable instructions, at least one set of predetermined coordinates (124), and a position identifying algorithm (122). The position identifying algorithm is configured for outputting a set of current coordinates (128) for each of the at least one set of predetermined coordinates in response to receiving a current image descriptive of an object (306, 310). The execution of machine executable instructions (120) causes a computational system (104) to repeatedly receive (200) a current image (126) from a camera system (304). The execution of machine executable instructions (120) causes a computational system (104) to perform the following for the current image: receive (202) the set of current coordinates for each of the at least one set of predetermined coordinates in response to inputting the current image into the position identifying algorithm; calculate (204) a positional difference (130) between the at least one set of predetermined coordinates and its set of current coordinates; calculate (206) a one-dimensional value (134) from positional difference using an objective function; and provide (208) a one-dimensional position indicator (136, 314, 600, 602, 608, 800, 900, 1002) for each of and controlled by each one-dimensional value in real time using a user interface (108, 308, 416, 418).

Abstract: A positioning system (10) for positioning a patient (101) for diagnostic imaging is provided. The system comprises a sensor arrangement (12) with at least one sensor (14, 16) configured to provide a sensor signal indicative of at least one body parameter of the patient (101), a controller (18) configured to determine a value of the at least one body parameter based on the sensor signal of the at least one sensor (14, 16), and at least one actuatable support (20) configured to move at least one of an arm (105) and a leg (107) of the patient with respect to a torso of the patient. Therein, the controller (18) is configured to actuate the at least one actuatable support (20) depending on the determined value of the at least one body parameter to move at least one of the arm and the leg relative to the torso of the patient, such that the patient is guided to a posture for diagnostic imaging
