Abstract: A system is provided for determining the position of an interventional device inside a lumen. The interventional device comprises a distal portion inside the lumen and a proximal portion outside the lumen and the system comprises a processor. The processor is configured to receive a first estimated position of the distal portion of the interventional device inside the lumen from a first system and receive an estimated displacement of the distal portion of the interventional device inside a lumen from a second system, wherein the estimated displacement is representative of the movement of the distal portion of the interventional device inside the lumen. The processor is further configured to determine a second estimated position of the distal portion of the interventional device inside the lumen based on the first estimated position and the estimated displacement.

Abstract: A magnetic-based tracking system for tracking an ultrasound probe to create a three-dimensional visualization. The system can include a reference device including a reference magnet and an ultrasound probe including an ultrasound acoustic transducer or acoustic array that acquires ultrasound images and a magnetometer that detects a magnetic field generated by the reference magnet. The ultrasound probe couples a first ultrasound image with a first magnetic field strength, wherein both of the first ultrasound image is received and the first magnetic field strength is detected at a first time. The system can include a console including a processor and non-transitory computer-readable medium having stored thereon a plurality of processor executed logic modules that perform operations including receiving and recording a plurality of coupling of ultrasound images and detected magnetic field strengths, and generating a 3D visualization from the ultrasound images.

Abstract: A system for performing an interventional procedure includes an interventional instrument and a control system. The instrument includes a catheter and an interventional tool extendable from the catheter. The control system includes a processor and a memory comprising machine-readable instructions that cause the control system to: receive a model of an anatomic structure, the anatomic structure including a plurality of passageways; identify a target structure in the model; receive information about a maximum extension length the interventional tool can be extended relative to a distal tip of the catheter; based upon the received information about the maximum extension length, identify a planned deployment location for positioning the distal tip of the catheter to perform the interventional procedure on the target structure; determine a navigational path for the catheter to the target structure; and navigate the catheter to the identified planned deployment location via computer control or based on user input.

Abstract: A method of establishing access to a hip joint is disclosed. Pre-operative images of the hip joint are processed to produce a first three-dimensional model (pelvis) and a second three-dimensional model (femur). Data from the first probe and data from the second probe are collected and processed to produce a third three-dimensional model (pelvis) and a fourth three-dimensional model (femur), respectively. The first and third three-dimensional models are aligned to produce a first aligned model (pelvis), and the second and fourth three-dimensional models are aligned to produce a second aligned model (femur). A target location is determined between the first and second aligned models, and an entry vector cone is determined from the target location. A navigated guide wire is inserted along the entry vector cone to the target location.

Abstract: A multi-modality cancer screening and diagnosis system is provided that allows cancer screening and diagnosis of a patient using at least two different and sequential three-dimensional imaging techniques without patient repositioning. The system includes a first three-dimensional image acquisition device, a second three-dimensional image acquisition device having a probe with a transmitter mounted thereon, and a positioning paddle for positioning and immobilizing an object to be imaged during the cancer screening and diagnosis procedure. The positioning paddle is designed to facilitate visualization of the breast in both three-dimensional modalities without movement of the patient, and preferably is designed to position the patient with comfort during a diagnosis procedure which uses both imaging modalities.
