摘要: In an embodiment, a method (100) is described. The method includes accessing (102) data from a sequence of images of a subject illuminated with ambient light and illumination having a sinusoidal intensity modulation in time. An imaging device is used to obtain the sequence of images and is configured such that a different spatial intensity modulation pattern is apparent in consecutive images of the sequence. The method further includes determining (104), based on a set of measured pixel intensity values in each of the sequence of images, a set of revised pixel intensity values for generating a revised image of the subject such that a reduced level of ambient lighting is apparent in the revised image compared with the level of ambient lighting apparent in at least one of the sequence of images.

摘要: According to an aspect, there is provided a handheld device (2) for applying energy pulses to skin (17) of a subject to perform a treatment operation as the handheld device is moved across the skin, the handheld device comprising: an aperture (6) that is to be placed adjacent to the skin; at least one energy source (8) for generating an energy pulse and for providing the energy pulse through the aperture to perform the treatment operation on 5 skin adjacent the aperture, wherein the at least one energy source has a minimum pulse repetition period following the generation of an energy pulse before a subsequent energy pulse can be generated; a first skin property sensor (14) for measuring a skin property and for outputting a first measurement signal representing measurements of the skin property at a first sensing position (24), wherein the skin property is a property that changes in response to the application of an energy pulse to the skin, and wherein the first sensing position is in front of the aperture relative to an intended motion direction of the handheld device over the skin; a second skin property sensor (16) for measuring the skin property and for outputting a second measurement signal representing measurements of the skin property at a second sensing position (26), wherein the second sensing position is behind the aperture relative to the intended motion direction; a memory unit (56); and a control unit (10) that is coupled to the at least one energy source to control the generation of energy pulses by the at least one energy source, and coupled to the first skin property sensor and the second skin property sensor to obtain the first measurement signal and the second measurement signal, wherein the control unit is configured to store a profile of at least the first measurement signal in the memory unit; wherein the control unit is further configured to, when the handheld device is moving in the intended motion direction over the skin: analyse the profile of the first measurement signal to determine if the first skin property sensor is passing over a previously treated area of skin; on detecting that the first skin property sensor is not passing over a previously treated area of skin, control the at least one energy source to generate an energy pulse if, or once, the minimum pulse repetition period following the generation of a previous energy pulse has expired; on detecting that the first skin property sensor is passing over a previously treated area of skin, performing the consecutive operations of: preventing the generation of an energy pulse, even if the minimum pulse repetition period following the generation of a previous energy pulse has expired; marking a point in the profile of the first measurement signal stored in the memory unit according to a predetermined rule, wherein the marked point relates to a position on the previously treated area of skin; using information about the marked point, analyse the profile of the second measurement signal to identify a similar marked point in the profile of the second measurement signal; on identifying the similar marked point in the profile of the second measurement signal, controlling the at least one energy source to generate an energy pulse if, or once, the minimum pulse repetition period following the generation of a previous energy pulse has expired.

摘要: A method of treating a skin tissue area (3) having a skin surface (5) is provided. The method comprises the steps of: deforming the skin tissue area into a deformed shape comprising a plurality of folds (17) in the skin tissue area; arranging radiofrequency electrodes (13) in contact with the skin surface on opposite sides of the deformed skin tissue area; and, while maintaining the skin tissue area in said deformed shape, providing a spatially continuous radiofrequency energy flow between the radiofrequency electrodes on opposite sides of the deformed skin tissue area through the deformed skin tissue area, thereby heating at least a portion (19) of the deformed skin tissue area; and releasing the skin tissue area from said deformed shape, thereby deforming said heated portion (19) into a wave-shaped zone of heated skin tissue having a depth relative to the skin surface that varies between a minimum and a maximum value in a direction between said opposite sides. Accordingly, an apparatus for treating a skin tissue area (3) is provided.

摘要: In an embodiment, a method (100) is described. The method is a computer-implemented method. The method comprises receiving (102) pixel information corresponding to at least part of a first, second and third image, acquired by an imaging system, of a subject illuminated by temporally modulated illumination. A time delay between an acquisition start time of the first, second and third images is such that there is an overlap in time during acquisition of the first, second and third images. The method further comprises determining (104) modified pixel information for constructing a modified image of the subject. The modified pixel information is determined based on: a difference between the received pixel information of the first, second and third images to reduce an effect of ambient lighting in the received pixel information; and a combination of the received pixel information to cancel out a spatial intensity modulation pattern apparent in each of the first, second and third images. The spatial intensity modulation pattern is due to a timing relationship between an imaging time period over which the imaging system acquires each image and a modulation time period of the temporally modulated illumination.
