Abstract: There is provided a device for rendering haptic feedback to a user and method for operating the device to render the haptic feedback to the user of the device. The device comprises a first part operable to apply a non-invasive action on a part of the body of the user and a second part operable to be held by the user and to render haptic feedback to the user. At least one sensor signal indicative of an interaction between the first part of the device and the 5 part of the body of the user is acquired (402). The acquired at least one sensor signal is processed to determine haptic feedback representative of the interaction between the first part of the device and the part of the body of the user (404). The determined haptic feedback is rendered to the user at the second part of the device (406).

The method also includes using the measurements to estimate the location and/or orientation of the handheld personal care device with respect to the user during use of the handheld personal care device based on a predetermined relationship between the location and/or orientation of the handheld personal care device with respect to the user and, exclusively, the posture of the part of the body of the user. A personal care system and a machine-readable medium are also disclosed.
