An image-reading device is provided with a first detection unit for detecting that the front side of a cover is within a first distance to ca copy holder, a second detection unit for detecting that an opening/closing support part is within a second distance to the copy holder, and a control unit. The contorl unit: acquires first detection information due to the first detection unit and second detection information due to the second detection unit, respectively; and identifies, on the basis of the first detection information and the second detection information, whether a copy set in place has a thickness equal to or greater than a fixed value.

A sensor unit (12) includes a thermistor (21) and a connector (22). A protection unit (13) includes a thermal cutoff (31) and a connector (32). An intermediate connector unit (14-1, 14-2) electrically connects the connectors (22, 32) and an external connection connector (11) to each other, respectively. An intermediate wire (53) electrically connects the intermediate connectors (14-1, 14-2) to each other. The first intermediate connector unit (14-1) electrically connects an end of a loopback wire (23) of the connector (22) to the external connection connector (11), the second intermediate connector unit (14-2) connects an end of the thermal cutoff (31) to the external connection connector (11), the intermediate wire (53) electrically connects the other end of the loopback wire (23) and the other end of the thermal cutoff (31) to each other.
Abstract:
A drying apparatus which dries a medium on which an image is formed with ink while conveying the medium includes a conveyance part, a heating part, a measurement part and a controller. The conveyance part conveys the medium in a predetermined conveyance direction. The heating part supplies energy to the image on the sheet conveyed in the conveyance part and dries the image. The measurement part measures a value accompanied with moisture contained in the medium. The controller estimates an amount of moisture contained in the medium based on the value measured by the measurement part, and controls at least one of the conveyance part and the heating part so as to change an amount of the energy supplied to the image based on the estimated amount of moisture.

A static eliminating device includes a substrate provided with a plurality of light emitters that irradiates light as static eliminating light onto a surface of a photosensitive body, and a plurality of limiting resistors that is provided on a same surface as the light emitters. One ends of each of the plurality of light emitters are connected to a power source via the plurality of limiting resistors. The static eliminating device further includes: a first switching section that supplies power from the power source to the plurality of limiting resistors and the plurality of light emitters at a ON state; and a second switching section that supplies power from the power source to the limiting resistors at the ON state, but does not supply the power to the light emitters.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming device, a transport belt, an optical sensor, an ultrasonic sensor, and a controller. The transport belt transports the recording sheet. The optical sensor emits light to the transport belt, and receives the light reflected by the transport belt. The ultrasonic sensor transmits ultrasonic wave to the transport belt, and receives the ultrasonic wave transmitted through the transport belt. The controller decides whether an output from each of the optical sensor and the ultrasonic sensor represents a normal value or an abnormal value, and executes predetermined control, depending on a combination of decision results about the respective outputs from the optical sensor and the ultrasonic sensor.

A heating device includes a plurality of chip resistors, a conductor pattern, and a substrate. The plurality of chip resistors generate heat upon receiving power from a power source. The conductor pattern is arranged so as to serially connect the plurality of chip resistors. The conductor pattern is formed on the substrate. The conductor pattern connecting the chip resistors is wider in a forward path from the power source than in a backward path. The majority of the heat generated by the chip resistor is transmitted from the chip resistor to the conductor pattern, and the transmitted heat is radiated from the conductor pattern. Thus, not only the heat from the surface of the chip resistor but also the heat from the conductor pattern serves as heat source.
