Abstract:
According to an embodiment, an image processing apparatus includes a detector, a heater, and a controller. The detector detects an image formed on a sheet. The heater applies a predetermined heat amount onto the sheet to carry out erasing processing on the sheet. The controller controls, based on a detection result of the detector, the number of times the erasing processing is to be carried out on the sheet and a heat amount to be applied onto the sheet in the erasing processing.
Abstract:
A printer for printing on a semiporous recording medium includes a dryer adapted to dry the semiporous recording medium to a moisture content not to exceed that of the recording medium equilibrated to 20% RH. A liquid-deposition unit deposits hydrophilic liquid in a selected fluid pattern on the recording medium within 15 seconds after the completion of drying. A charging member charges the recording medium so that a charge pattern of charged and discharged areas is formed on the recording medium and the charged areas have a potential of at least 100 V. A development station deposits charged dry ink on the medium, the dry ink having charge of the same sign as the charged areas, so that the charged dry ink is deposited on the paper in a dry ink pattern corresponding to the selected fluid pattern.
Abstract:
A printing system includes a first printing apparatus, a second printing apparatus, and a control device. The second printing apparatus is provided at a rear stage of the first printing apparatus, and includes a second preheating unit that preheats a recording medium from one surface before thermally fixing a toner image to another surface, and a temperature control unit that increase the temperature of the second preheating unit from a normal temperature to a target temperature, in response to a printing preparation instruction received in a temporary printing stop state from the control device. The control device starts printing, when the temperature of the second preheating unit reaches the target temperature. The temperature control unit decreases the temperature of the second preheating unit from the target temperature to the normal temperature, when the recording medium is conveyed by a length from a deformed portion to the second preheating unit.
Abstract:
Electrographic printing apparatus for producing a toner image on paper includes a dryer adapted to dry a selected region of the paper to a moisture content not to exceed that of the paper equilibrated to 20% RH. A liquid-deposition unit wets selected portions of the selected region of the paper within 15 seconds after the completion of drying to provide a latent fluid image corresponding to the wetted portions of the paper. A dry area is thereby defined in the selected region outside the latent fluid image. A charging member charges the paper so that the paper in the dry area has a selected potential. A development station deposits charged dry toner in the selected region, the toner having charge of the same sign as the selected potential, so that the toner adheres to paper in the area of the latent fluid image.
Abstract:
An image forming device that includes a first moisture amount derivation component, a drying component, a storage component, and a control component is provided. The storage component stores drying information, including information representing a pre-drying moisture amount previously derived by the first moisture amount derivation component, and a drying strength of the drying component at which a recording medium was dried when the previously derived pre-drying moisture amount was derived. The control component controls the drying strength of the drying component on the basis of the pre-drying moisture amount derived by the first moisture amount derivation component and the drying information stored by the storage component.
Abstract:
A low voltage flexible heater for installation in the base of a printer cabinet and operating on 28 volts or less and providing continuous surface temperatures of 200° C. for convective drying of paper in the print sheet stacker. The pad may be formed of silicone rubber with adhesive backing for ease of installation.
Abstract:
A sheet-feeding device for separating sheets stored in a sheet storage unit by blowing air heated by a heater toward the sheets includes a controller which detects an abnormality when a heater temperature does not reach a first predetermined temperature within a predetermined time. The controller continues to control the heater temperature but stops determining whether or not the heater temperature is increased to the first predetermined temperature within the predetermined time when it is detected that the sheet storage unit is in an open state.
Abstract:
A sheet feeding apparatus is provided with a sheet stacking device for stacking sheets thereon, a sheet feeding device for feeding the sheets stacked on the sheet stacking device, and a heating device for heating the sheets stacked on the sheet stacking device. The heating device is designed such that of the heat generating areas of the heating device, the heating value of the heat generating area for the central portion of the sheets stacked on the sheet stacking device is greater than the heating values of the other heat generating areas.
Abstract:
The present invention is a method and an apparatus for controlling the volume of a printable substrate after an image is created thereon, and more particularly to the production and use of a calenderizeable substrate in which a final thickness may be adjusted. The system employed for the process includes a pair of compression rollers wherein the nip force therebetween may be adjusted.
Abstract:
A moisture-reducing paper tray including a desiccant that absorbs moisture from the environment of the paper tray and consequently the paper supply itself. As a result, the desiccant may become saturated as moisture is adsorbed. In one embodiment of the invention, the desiccant may be changed for a fresh desiccant. In an alternate embodiment of the invention, the moisture-reducing paper tray may also include a drying mechanism which includes a heating element, a blower and a humidity sensor. The humidity sensor is positioned to sense a humidity level in the paper tray. When a pre-selected humidity level in the paper tray is equaled or exceeded, the heating element and blower are energized and warm air passes into the paper tray drying the desiccant.
