摘要: A vertical shaft windmill is provided in which: a casing (7) extends further upward than a lowest arm (5L); a radial bearing (BI) is fixed to the outer part of the casing (7); and the arm (5L) is mounted for rotation to the casing (7) through the radial bearing (BI). Unstable conditions in the overhang region can be eliminated without decreasing its wind receiving area and without interference with other members.

摘要: A method for decreasing a seed storage protein in seeds by a genetic engineering method and a method for transforming plants are disclosed. In the method of the present invention, a gene which is a template of a mRNA having a nucleotide sequence complementary to the mRNA of the seed storage protein is introduced in a plant; and the gene in seeds of the plant is transcribed to inhibit translation of the mRNA of the seed storage protein, thereby decreasing the seed storage protein in the seeds. In the method for transforming plants according to the present invention, a plant is transformed with a vector containing a glutelin promoter and a foreign gene.

摘要: A dynamic pressure bearing is provided with a moving side bearing member and a fixed side bearing member so as to support a rotor for rotation by generating a fluid dynamic pressure between the moving side bearing member and the fixed side bearing member. The dynamic pressure bearing includes a high-frequency exciting device for applying a high-frequency vibration to the fixed side bearing member at the time of at least one of start-up and shutdown of the rotor. In this way, both bearing members are kept almost free from contact with each other and a frictional resistance at start-up and/or shutdown is minimized.

摘要: The present invention is drawn to a screw compressor having a wide operating range with respect to flow rate and pressure ratio, wherein a discharge opening portion of a casing is provided with a generally tapered notch portion so that compressed gas is gradually discharged from a certain fixed point where a volume ratio of one groove defined by rotors and the casing is smaller than an inherent built-in volume ratio. Since the present invention is arranged in the above-mentioned manner, the flow of the gas at the discharge opening portion is reduced by the notch portion which is readily formed. Thereby the variation range of the pressure (the amplitude of pulsation of the pressure) is decreased and the noise level is lowered. Further, a loss of pressure resulting from the rapid flow of the gas is restricted to thereby widen a range of preferable performance of the compressor.
