    摘要: A liquid crystal device includes a pair of substrates; a partition wall member that partitions a region sandwiched between the pair of substrates to provide reflective display regions and transmissive display regions; a plurality of pixels each including a plurality of pixel regions, each of the pixel regions having each of the reflective display regions and each of the transmissive display regions; and a first liquid crystal layer made of a first liquid crystal and a second crystal layer made of a second liquid crystal, the first and the second liquid crystal layers, respectively, being enclosed in the reflective display region and the transmissive display region, respectively, partitioned by the partition wall member so as to sandwich the first and the second liquid crystal layers between the pair of substrates, wherein a phase difference value of reflected light in the first liquid crystal layer is approximately equal to a phase difference value of transmitted light in the second liquid crystal layer.

A reflective display region for reflective display and a transmissive display region for transmissive display are provided in a subpixel region. A retardation film is provided in a region of one of the pair of substrates corresponding to the reflective display region. The retardation film is formed by laminating a plurality of liquid crystal material layers with an alignment film interposed therebetween.

    摘要: A liquid crystal device includes a pair of substrates, a liquid crystal layer provided between the substrates, and a plurality of sub-pixels each having a transmissive display region and a reflective display region. One of the substrates includes switching elements corresponding to the sub-pixels, lines connected to the switching elements, and an insulating film provided on the switching elements and the lines. The insulating film includes first recesses provided in the transmissive display regions, and second recesses provided along boundaries between the adjoining sub-pixels. At least a part of the insulating film other than the first and second recesses planarly overlaps with the reflective display regions. The thickness of the liquid crystal layer is smaller in the reflective display regions than in the transmissive display regions having the first recesses. The depth of the second recesses is smaller than the depth of the first recesses.

    摘要: A photosensitive resin applied onto a substrate is exposed using a mask. In this exposure step, by appropriately setting the size of each light transmitting portion formed in the mask and an exposure gap, an exposure intensity profile on a surface of a photosensitive resin is formed so as to have an increasing and decreasing curve along the surface thereof. When the exposure is performed in accordance with the exposure intensity profile, followed by development, a resin layer having surface irregularities is formed. Subsequently, a reflection layer made of a metal thin film or the like is formed on this resin layer.

The two-dimensional shapes of the plurality of convex portions or concave portions are specified to be the two-dimensional shapes of independent circles and polygons, or of either of them. In addition, the plurality of convex portions or concave portions are arranged in the direction of the plane on a random basis. The substrate is formed using a mask in which light transmission portions or light non-transmission portions are formed in units of dots, the number thereof being smaller than the number of dot regions. The dots are arranged irregularly in each of the units, and a plurality of units are included.
