摘要: A system and method are provided for forming electromagnetic energy transmissive layers, which are particularly configured to selectively scatter specific and selectable wavelengths of electromagnetic energy, while allowing remaining wavelengths to pass therethrough. Processes are provided by which to form, or otherwise incorporate, one or more energy scattering layers, including uniquely implementing optical light scattering techniques in such energy scattering layers, and to objects, object portions, wall plates, lenses, filters, screens and the like that are formed of, or that otherwise incorporate, such transmissive energy-scattering layers. Refractive indices of particles fixed in a matrix are tunable in order that the finished layers provide an opaque appearance when viewed from an energy-incident excited by light in the visible spectrum. A color, pattern, texture or image of the scattering layer may be rendered according to an individual user's desires, the layers being substantially-transparent to light passing through layers.

摘要: A system and method are provided for forming one-way light transmissive layers implementing optical light scattering techniques in those layers, and to objects, object portions, lenses, filters, screens and the like that are formed of, or that otherwise incorporate, such one-way light transmissive layers. Processes are provided by which to form, or otherwise incorporate, one or more one-way light transmissive, or substantially transparent, object portions or layers in solid or hollow objects Individual one-way light transmissive layers are formed of substantially-transparent sub-micrometer spheres, including micro-particles and/or nano-particles, with nano-voids incorporated between them. Refractive indices of the sub-micrometer particles are tunable in order that the finished layers provide an opaque appearance when viewed from a light incident side that is rendered according to an individual user's desires, but that are substantially-transparent to light passing through the finished layers to areas or sensors behind those finished layers.

摘要: Systems and methods are provided for delivering material compositions comprising particularly-formed multi-layer micron-sized particles that are substantially transparent, yet that exhibit selectable coloration based on their physical properties suspended in substantially transparent matrix or binder materials to facilitate delivery onto substrates, particularly aerosol or aspirated delivery. The disclosed physical properties of the particles are controllably selectable refractive indices to provide an opaque-appearing energy transmissive material when pluralities of the particles are suspended in the substantially transparent matrix material. The multiply-layered (up to 30+ constituent layers) particles result in an overall particle diameter of less than 5 microns, substantially equivalent to paint pigment particles. When delivered, the material compositions form layers that uniquely implement optical light scattering techniques in energy (or light) transmissive layers that appear selectively opaque, while allowing 80+% of the energy impinging on the light incident side to pass through the layers.

摘要: A transparent layered element with diffuse reflection properties includes two outer layers made of dielectric materials having substantially the same refractive index and a central layer intercalated between the two outer layers, formed either from a single layer which is a dielectric layer with a refractive index different from that of the outer layers or a metallic layer, or from a stack of layers which includes at least one dielectric layer with a refractive index different from that of the outer layers or a metallic layer. The upper outer layer is a sol-gel layer including a silica-based organic/inorganic hybrid matrix.

摘要: Disclosed herein is a display device including a reflection type image display portion having a sheet-like anisotropic scattering member. In an area, in an in-plane direction, of the anisotropic scattering member, a low-refractive index area and a high-refractive index area are disposed in a mixture style. The anisotropic scattering member is disposed in such a way that a light is scattered when an outside light is made incident from a surface side on which a degree of a change in a refractive index in a vicinity of a boundary between the low-refractive index area and the high-refractive index area is relatively large, and is emitted from a surface side on which the degree of the change in the refractive index in the vicinity of the boundary between the low-refractive index area and the high-refractive index area is relatively small.

摘要: A head-up display device includes an image module, a substrate, and an optical film. The image module has an emitting source, wherein the emitting source transmits at least one image. The substrate is disposed corresponding to the image module. The optical film is disposed on the substrate and includes at least one transmission layer, wherein each transmission layer has a plurality of transmitting column structures obliquely arranged side by side, and a longitudinal direction of the transmitting column structure has a tilt angle with respect to a normal of the substrate. The at least one image is transmitted to the optical film, and the obliquely disposed transmitting column structures cause the at least one image to scatter on the optical film.

摘要: A conversion element (10) is specified, comprising a scattering layer (12), a reflection layer (14), and a conversion layer (16) arranged between the scattering layer (12) and the reflection layer (14). The scattering layer (12) is designed to transmit a first portion (20) of a primary radiation (18) impinging on it from a side facing away from the conversion layer (16) into the conversion layer (16), and to scatter a second portion (22) of the primary radiation (18) impinging on it towards that side of the scattering layer (12) which faces away from the conversion layer (16). The conversion layer (16) comprises at least one conversion means (25) which is designed to convert at least part of the first portion of the primary radiation (18) into a second radiation (19) having a higher wavelength different from the primary radiation (18). The reflection layer (14) has a reflective effect at least with regard to the second radiation (19).

摘要: The reflectivity and transmissivity of building and vehicle surfaces is maintained while employing partial, variable, selective, or asymmetric diffusers between a surface and an external light source such that the reflected light is diffused to produce a reduction in glare, while minimally effecting the specular or collimated transmission (if any) of light through the surface. Glare is also reduced by utilizing diffuser devices that reflect light in a temperature dependent manner.
