The carbon membrane can have a large amount of a biological molecule (e.g., an enzyme) immobilized thereon and can also have a higher level of enzymatic activity or the like compared to a conventional one. Therefore, the carbon membrane is useful as an electrode for a bio-sensor or a bio-fuel cell.
