    摘要: A retainer inserted from one side face of a housing is equipped with projections which penetrate from the side of hooked grooves of female terminal fittings, and insert portions which penetrate into bending spaces of lances from the side. When female terminal fittings are partially inserted into chambers of the housing, the insert portions of the retainer contact against the side faces of lances which are bent into the bending spaces, and the projections contact against the side face of connecting parts of the female terminal fittings. Further movement of the retainer is prevented and the partial insertion is detected. When the retainer is properly inserted, the projections are fit on the hooked grooves to be directly locked, and the insert portions are inserted in the bending spaces to prevent bending of the lances to be indirectly locked. Therefore, the female terminal fittings are triply and strongly locked, including the hooking of the barb parts of the terminal fittings by the lances. Thus, the reliability of detection of partial insertion of terminal fittings is increased.

    摘要: A horizontally inserted retainer is mounted in a housing, and can be moved between a temporary locked position which allows insertion and removal of female terminal fittings and a final locked position which retains the female terminal fittings in the housing. A front stop plate with insertion openings is provided on the retainer, and the insertion openings are offset from housing chambers containing female terminal fittings when the retainer is in the temporary locked position. A continuity test is carried out by inserting a test probe through the insertion openings when the retainer is in the temporary locked position. Since only a portion of the front rim of the female terminal fitting is accessible through the insertion opening, the test probe contacts the portion of the front rim and does not enter deeply into the female terminal fitting. Therefore, elastic connecting pieces of the female terminal fittings are not excessively bent, and the female terminal fittings are not damaged, during the continuity test.

Each terminal fitting (10) has a lock engaging projection (17) for engaging a lock (22) of the housing (20). Each terminal fitting (10) also has a step (14) and a retainer engaging projection (15) formed continuously with the step (14). The lock engaging projection (17) interferes with a lock (46) of a retainer (40) that is being displaced to a full locking position even if the female terminal fitting (10) is left lightly inserted without reaching the position where the retainer engaging projection (15) interferes with the locking projection (46). Thus, an insufficient insertion can be detected even when the female terminal fitting (10) is left even more lightly inserted.

    摘要: A connector has a housing (30) with a retainer (50) that is movable normal to the longitudinal direction of female terminal fittings (20) along the front of a terminal accommodating portion (31) between a partial locking position where the insertion and withdrawal of female terminal fittings (20) are permitted and a full locking position where the female terminal fittings (20) are locked. Jig insertion holes (56) are formed in a front-stop plate (51) of the retainer 50. The female terminal fitting (20) can be withdrawn by inserting a jig through the jig insertion hole (56) to unlock a lock (34) while the retainer (50) is at the partial locking position. The distance between the front-stop plate (5)1 and the locks (34) engaged with the female terminal fittings (20) is short as compared to conventional front-type retainers that move longitudinally. Thus, the locks 34 can be unlocked more easily and the terminal fittings (20) can be easily withdrawn without detaching the retainer (50).

    摘要: The invention provides a compact configuration for an electrical connector having a fitting detecting function. A housing groove 25 of a female housing 20 is provided with a locking arm 26 and a detecting member 35. The locking arm 26 bends while two housings 10 and 20 are being fitted together, then returns to its original position after the two housings 10 and 20 have reached a correct fitting state and engages with a protrusion 16 of the male housing 10. The detecting member 35 is capable of being inserted from a temporary attaching position to a main attaching position. When the locking arm 26, while in a bent state, makes contact with the detecting member 35 and thereby prevents its insertion, this allows detection of the fact that the two housings 10 and 20 have not been correctly fitted together. A retaining rod 42 is provided in the center of an anterior face of the detecting member 35, and a pair of contacting rods are provided on both sides of the retaining rod 42. These contacting rods make contact with stoppers 45, and a retaining hook 47 at the anterior end of the retaining rod 42 engages with a locking member 30 of the locking arm 26. This retains the detecting member 35 in the posterior direction and maintains it in the temporary attaching position.

    摘要: The invention stabilizes the fitting state of a long and thin multipolar lever-type connector. A female housing 20, of a pair of long and narrow housings 10 and 20, has a pivotable lever 23 attached thereto. The lever 23 is provided with cam grooves 27 into which follower pins 13 of the male housing 10 are inserted. The lever 23 is pivoted while these follower pins 13 are in a joined state therewith, thereby causing the two housings 10 and 20 to fit together. Both ends of the female housing 20, relative to the lengthwise direction thereof, are provided with housing members 30 that house coiled springs 40 and sliders 41 having locking arms 44. The locking arms 44 are provided with locking protrusions 47 that engage with locking members 14 of the male housing 10 when the housings 10 and 20 reach the correct fitting state. Tapered faces 15 and 48 are formed on locking portions of the locking members 14 and the locking protrusions 47 respectively.
