The driving mechanism includes first and second pinion components held by a carrier, first and second rack segments fixed to a main apparatus body, and a connector rack segment fixed between the first and second rack segments. When the carrier performs recording, the first pinion component engages with the first rack segment. When the carrier is at a home position, the second pinion component engages with the second rack segment.

    摘要: A sheet loading apparatus, which is equipped with a position adjustment unit that can be held in a fixed condition with a small applying force and released from the fixed condition by an intuitive and slight operation, is provided. The apparatus includes a sheet loading unit on which sheets are loaded, a position adjustment unit that can be moved in a direction that intersects with a direction in which the sheets loaded on the sheet loading unit are conveyed, and a fixation member for fixing the position adjustment unit to the sheet loading unit. The fixation member has a connection unit for connecting to the position adjustment means at a position distant from a sheet loading surface of the sheet loading unit and a fixation member-side fixation unit that is engaged with a loading-side fixation surface formed at a position close to the sheet loading surface of the sheet loading unit. A distance between the connection unit and the fixation member-side fixation unit is longer than a minimum distance between the connection unit and the loading-side fixation surface, and the fixation member-side fixation unit is arranged on the side opposite to the sheets to be adjusted with respect to the connection unit.

    摘要: An ink jet recording apparatus is provided with a recording function to record images on a sheet material by installing an ink jet recording head that discharges ink from the ink discharge ports, and also, with an image reading function to read images from a sheet material by installing an image reading head exchangeably. This apparatus includes the discharge port surface of the ink jet recording head having the ink discharge ports formed on it, the image reading surface of the image reading head to read images to this head from the image reading surface, and a member that abuts upon the ink discharge port surface arranged to be in contact with the ink discharge port surface of the ink jet recording head. This member is arranged so as not to be in contact with the image reading surface of the image reading head. Thus the image reading surface of the image reading head is prevented from being stained by ink. Also, this apparatus can be made smaller with a simple structure to provide both reading and recording functions.
