    摘要： An apparatus for making a musical database including a converting unit for converting musical information representing a music piece into note data items, each of note data items being a set of values associated with a period of a single sound denoted by a musical note and a scale level of the single sound denoted by the musical note, a position unit for producing position data items for the note data items, the position data items representing positions at which the note data items are positioned in the musical information, a unit for producing an index indicating relationships between the note data items and the position data items, and a storage unit for storing the index. A retrieval apparatus retrieves a string of note data items from a musical database using the index stored in the storage unit.

    摘要： An information access control method is presented by which access to certain specified information on an information system is restricted by means of the authentication of external recording media. The information access control method that accesses information data on an information system by using an external recording medium includes the steps of, wherein system user information is recorded onto the external recording medium, and the corresponding user information is also registered in advance on the information system, comparing the system user information sent by the connection request with the registered system user information, when the system user information is sent to the information system as a connection request from the external recording medium, and allowing the external recording medium access to the information data on the system within the limits specified by the aforementioned system user information, if the results of the comparison match.

    摘要： In a method and apparatus for severing roots of bean sprouts, a severing table has a plurality of ridges formed at predetermined intervals and extending in parallel with a direction in which a cutter blade is moved. Each ridge is formed with a number of severing slits each of which has such a width that a root of a bean sprout falls into each severing slit. The bean sprouts are continuously supplied onto the severing table while a cutter blade is moved along an upper face of the severing table and water is being sprinkled over the severing table so that roots of the bean sprouts on the severing table flow into the severing slits. The roots of the bean sprouts fallen in the severing slits are severed by the cutter blade. The bean sprouts from which the roots have been severed are conveyed out of the severing table with movement of the cutter blade.
