    摘要: Described is a process for separating an organic phase comprising mainly propyl bromide from a crude reaction mixture formed by free-radical catalyzed hydrobromination of propylene with hydrogen bromide. The process comprises (A) feeding cold water into an upper or mid-portion of a packed column; (B) concurrently feeding the crude reaction mixture into an upper portion and/or mid-portion of the column so that the water contacts the crude reaction mixture; to form a mixture of (i) an acidic aqueous phase comprising aqueous hydrogen bromide and (ii) an organic phase comprising propyl bromide; (C) withdrawing the resultant phases from said column, at a rate comparable to the feeds being made into the column; and (D) separating the phases to form an upper acidic aqueous phase comprising aqueous hydrogen bromide superposed on a lower liquid organic phase comprising propyl bromide, and separating these upper and lower phases from each other.

    摘要: This invention relates to a method for preparing a white or at least near-white product which is predominant in alkylene(C.sub.1 -C.sub.5)-bis-(tetrabromophthalimide). This method comprises: forming a solution which contains, as a solvent, (i) SO.sub.3 or fuming sulfuric acid, and (ii) a haloalkane of the formula RX.sub.n, wherein R is an alkyl group containing up to two carbon atoms, X is a halogen selected independently from Br and Cl, and n is 2 or 3 when R is an alkyl containing 1 carbon atom and is 1, 2 or 3 when R is an alkyl group containing 2 carbon atoms, and, as a solute, the yellow alkylene(C.sub.1 -C.sub.5)-bis-tetrabromophthalimide predominant product obtained from the reaction of tetrabromophthalic anhydride and diaminoalkane is the presence of water and alkanoic acid; and adding water to said solution to precipitate therefrom the white or at least near-white product.

    摘要: In a first embodiment this invention relates to a process for preparing a white product which principally contains a bisimide. The process comprises: providing tetrabromophthalic anhydride and a solvent in a reaction vessel; forming, at a temperature within the range of from about 140.degree. C. to about 200.degree. C., a reaction mass by adding a diamine, a diamine salt or a mixture thereof to the solution, the formation of the reaction mass resulting in the production of a bisimide precipitate which becomes a component of the reaction mass; terminating the addition of the diamine when the molar ratio of the tetrabromophthalic anhydride initially present in the solution to the diamine or diamine salt added is substantially stoichiometric; cooking the bisimide precipitate to increase the average sphericity of the particles making up the bisimide precipitate; and recovering from the reaction mass, as the bisimide product, the cooked precipitate. In a second embodiment the cooking step is optional and the retention of water formed during the diamine or diamine salt addition is featured.
