    摘要： A toner bottle driving device control method includes driving one of multiple toner bottle driving devices connected to a single toner container at a time, detecting abnormality of a toner bottle driving device being driven, determining a first abnormality phase of the toner bottle driving device being driven when a number of times the abnormality is detected exceeds a threshold, inhibiting the toner bottle driving device being in the first abnormality phase from driving until the first abnormality phase is resolved, driving a drivable toner bottle driving device containing a non-empty toner bottle when the toner bottle contained in the toner bottle driving device being driven is determined as empty, determining that the multiple toner bottle driving devices are in a second abnormality phase when each of the multiple toner bottle driving devices is determined as being in the first abnormality phase, and inhibiting image formation.

    摘要： A toner supply device includes a toner container, a transport-path forming member, an opening, a shutter member, and a first seal member. The opening is provided at a side wall of the transport-path forming member. The shutter member is movable between a closed position to close the transport path by being inserted in the opening and an open position. The first seal member fills a gap between an inner wall of the opening and the shutter member in a toner transport direction in which the toner is transported through the transport path. When the shutter member is inserted in the opening, the shutter member is elastically deformable in a deformation direction perpendicular to both the toner transport direction and a moving direction of the shutter member, and when the shutter member is not inserted in the opening, the shutter member is wider than the opening in the deformation direction.

Each of the upstream developing roller and the downstream developing roller has a most approachable surface that approaches closest to the image bearer and a most withdrawn surface that withdraws farthest from the image bearer. In a state in which a reference surface point of the image bearer is disposed opposite the most approachable surface of the upstream developing roller at the first developing position, the reference surface point opposes the most withdrawn surface of the downstream developing roller at the second developing position.

    摘要： In an image forming apparatus, a magnet brush forming device includes at least a first magnetic pole facing an image carrier carrying a latent image and a second magnetic pole positioned downstream of the first magnetic pole in the direction of rotation of a developer carrier. When a magnet brush formed on a developer carrier by the first magnetic pole forms a nip between it and the image carrier, flux density in the direction normal to the developer carrier has an attenuation ratio of 40% or above. The second magnetic pole has an upstream half-value point located downstream of a point upstream of and angularly spaced from the edge of a developer storing member by 15°. Flux density in the normal direction and flux density in the tangential direction between the first and second magnetic poles have vectors the sum of which is 85 mT or above.

    摘要： An image forming method and apparatus in which collected toner removed from a photoconductive medium by a cleaning device is conveyed to a developing device. The conveying device includes a powder pump having a rotor and a stator configured to convey the collected toner in an coaxial direction of said rotor. An air flow is supplied to the powder pump by way of an air pump, where the air is conveyed in a tube with the collected toner. The tube is connected to the developing device so that the collected toner is recycled. When the developing device is replenished with fresh toner from a toner bottle, the air pump stops supplying the air flow to the powder pump so as to prevent toner from scattering within the image forming apparatus from an opening of the developing device.
