    摘要: (1) A methacrylic ester or an acrylic ester is anionically polymerized, using a polymerization initiator compound comprising an addition reaction product of a conjugated diene compound and an organic alkali metal compound, in the presence of a tertiary organoaluminum compound having in the molecule thereof a chemical structure represented by a formula: Al—O—Ar wherein Ar represents an aromatic ring; or (2) a methacrylic ester or an acrylic ester is anionically polymerized, using a polymerization initiator compound comprising an addition reaction product of an organic alkali metal compound and a compound having a 1,1-diaryl-1-alkene structure, by adding the ester in the form of a mixture with the above-mentioned specific tertiary organoaluminum compound to the polymerization system. In this way, various species of the esters can be anionically polymerized with a high initiation efficiency and a high living polymerization property in a solvent which can easily be recovered and reused under a mild cooling condition, using an organic alkali metal compound which has relatively good convenience.

The process makes it possible to heighten the reaction rate and living properties upon polymerization and heighten the block formation efficiency upon block copolymerization.

    摘要: A multilayer electrolyte membrane for polymer electrolyte fuel cells, consisting of a laminate of at least two polymer electrolyte membranes at least one of which membranes comprises a block copolymer (I) which comprises, as its constituents, a polymer block (A) having as a main unit an aromatic vinyl compound unit and a flexible polymer block (B), and has ion-conducting groups on polymer block (A); and a membrane electrode assembly and a polymer electrolyte fuel cell. The multilayer membrane is economical, mild to the environment, and has high ion conductivity and high methanol barrier properties, together. It is preferred, from the object, that at least two of the constitutive electrolyte membranes comprise block copolymer (I), and/or at least one of the constitutive electrolyte membranes has an ion exchange capacity of 0.7 meq/g or more and at least one of them has an ion exchange capacity of less than 0.7 meq/g.
