摘要： An automatic document feeder for use with an electrophotographic copier, digital copier or similar image recorder capable of transporting ordinary documents in the form of separate sheets and a continuous document in the form of computer form (CF) paper which is formed with equally spaced sprocket holes, as desired. A sprocket hole sensor is disposed on an imaginary line along which the sprocket holes of the CF paper are moved. A control device reversibly controls the transport of the CF paper to a predetermined reference position on a glass platen in association with the number of sprocket holes being counted. The document feeder is capable of not only copying a desired page of the CF paper but also implementing jam recovery in the event when a paper sheet jams the image recorder.

摘要： An automatic document feeder (ADF) for use with an electrophotographic copier, digital copier or similar image recorder for selectively feeding ordinary documents in the form of separate sheets and a continuous document in the form of computer form (CF) paper. Sprocket holes formed through the CF paper are sensed to controllably transport and stop the CF paper on the basis of the number of sensed holes. Slippage of the CF paper apt to occur when the paper begins to be transported and when it is transported by a belt that faces a glass platen is prevented from being erroneously determined to be a jam. Cuts intervening between nearby sprocket holes for temporarily fastening a carbon to the CF paper are prevented from being sensed as the sprocket holes.

摘要： A sheet stacking apparatus includes a sheet discharge tray that holds a discharged sheet and that moves up and down, and a sheet discharge roller that is located above the sheet discharge tray and that discharges the discharged sheet to the sheet discharge tray. The sheet discharge tray receives the discharged sheet from the sheet discharge roller at a standard sheet receiving position which is located at a predetermined downward distance away from the sheet discharge roller. The sheet discharge tray moves down to a position which is lower than the standard sheet receiving position for a predetermined distance and receives at least a next sheet at the position, when a stacked amount of sheets on the sheet discharge tray reaches a predetermined stacking amount.

摘要： A sheet processing apparatus includes a staple tray that stacks a sheet discharged from an image forming apparatus, a rear end fence that vertically aligns the sheet stacked on the staple tray by hitting a tail end of the sheet in a conveying direction against the rear end fence, and a stapling device that executes a stapling operation at an end of a bundle of the sheets. A limiting member is movable in a direction of a thickness of the bundle of sheets stacked on the staple tray, in which a distance between the limiting member and a sheet stacking face of the staple tray guiding the sheet to the rear end fence is variable. The sheets are processed by a method including the steps of receiving a sheet discharged from the image forming apparatus, guiding the sheet to a rear end fence of a staple tray, stacking the sheet on the staple tray, aligning the sheet by hitting a tail end of the sheet against the rear end fence, pressing the tail end of the sheet in a direction of the thickness of the sheet, and stapling the bundle of sheets at the tail end of the sheet aligned by the rear end fence.

摘要： A finisher for use with a copier, printer or similar image forming apparatus for stapling or otherwise finishing paper sheets sequentially driven out of the apparatus. A paper sheet is introduced in a stapling section of a stapling device by being switched back, while being accurately guided by a guide member having a sufficient length. The stapling device is movable, independently of jogger fences which position paper sheets, to a particular position which is optimal for the size of stacked paper sheets and the position in which they are used. When a staple error detector detects a stapling error, a discharge path in use is switched over to another path. When a stapled paper stack is discharged, it is deformed in a wave-like configuration in a direction perpendicular to an intended direction of transport to be provided with a certain degree of rigidity. This allows the stapled paper stack to be driven out stably, epecially without being loosened at the discharge side. A jam detector detects a failure in the discharge of paper sheets in a discharging device with accuracy. A stapled paper stack is directly driven out of the stapling device without the intermediary of an exclusive path.
