Abstract: An image carrier unit includes: an image carrier having a circular cross-section and extending in one direction; an exposure device that radiates exposure light to the image carrier, the exposure device extending in the one direction and being opposed to the image carrier in a radial direction of the image carrier; a projecting member that is provided at both-end portions of the exposure device in the one direction, and projects to the image carrier along the radial direction; a formation member including an opposed surface that is opposed to a peripheral surface of the projecting member in a circumferential direction of the image carrier; a pressing member that presses the projecting member in the circumferential direction to press the peripheral surface of the projecting member against the opposed surface; and an adjusting member that adjusts a position of the exposure device relative to the image carrier by moving the exposure device in the radial direction with the projecting member pressed by the pressing member.

Abstract: An illuminating device capable of stably illuminating an irradiated object such as a document while suppressing light loss with a simply structure is provided. An LED array and a reflective plate are disposed sandwiching a slit (St) through which light reflected by a document MS passes and a light-guiding member is disposed on the side of the LED array. The light-guiding member includes a direct emission unit disposed between an illumination range y centered on a document reading position and the LED array and an indirect emission unit disposed between the reflective plate and the LED array, a light incidence face of the direct emission unit and a light incidence face of the indirect emission unit are disposed at mutually different position around the LED array, and the LED array is disposed on a side of an interior angle formed by the light incidence faces.

Abstract: A light scanning device includes: a first semiconductor laser 44a that emits a light beam L1; a polygonal mirror 42 that deflects the light beam L1; a reflective mirror 64a that reflects the light beam L1 deflected by the polygonal mirror 42 and causes the light beam L1 to enter a photosensitive drum 13; and a BD sensor 72 that detects the light beam L1 deflected by the polygonal mirror 42. The light scanning device scans the photosensitive drum 13 with the light beam L1 and set scanning timing of the photosensitive drum 13 using the light beam L1 based on detection timing of the light beam L1 using the BD sensor 72. The BD sensor 72 is arranged in the position farther from the polygonal mirror 42 than the last reflective mirror 64a that reflects the light beam L1 immediately before entering the photosensitive drum 13 and arranged inside a scanning angle range α of the light beam L1 corresponding to an effective scan area of the photosensitive drum 13.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a replenishment empty history recording portion, a post-empty attachment detecting portion, and an image creation restricting portion. The replenishment empty history recording portion records replenishment empty history information to a storage device in correspondence with one of the plurality of developer containers in which a replenishment empty state was detected in a first attachment portion. The post-empty attachment detecting portion detects whether or not a second attachment portion is in a post-empty container attached state where the developer container corresponding to the replenishment empty history information recorded in the storage device is attached to the second attachment portion. The image creation restricting portion, upon detection of the replenishment empty state, restricts an operation of an image creating device, and upon detection that the second attachment portion is in the post-empty container attached state, releases a restriction on the operation of the image creating device.

Abstract: An optical scanning unit includes a rotatable multi-faceted mirror having a plurality of faces reflecting light flux emitted from a light source to scan a scanning area in a main scanning direction. A width of the light flux striking the rotatable multi-faceted mirror is smaller than a length of a face of the rotatable multi-faceted mirror. The entire of light flux striking the rotatable multi-faceted mirror is reflected at a first face when the light flux reflected by the rotatable multi-faceted mirror is directed to the center portion of the scanning area. A part of the light flux striking the rotatable multi-faceted mirror is reflected at the first face while the remaining of the light flux is reflected at a second face when the light flux reflected by the rotatable multi-faceted mirror is directed to a least one of the two end portions of the scanning area.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an image bearer, an image forming device to form a toner image on the image bearer with toner, a power source to output a bias to transfer the toner image onto a recording medium, and control circuitry. The circuitry controls the power source to decrease a peak-to-peak voltage of the bias in response to increase in at least one of temperature and humidity, when a time-averaged voltage of the bias is on a transfer side of transferring the toner to the recording medium, from a median value of maximum and minimum voltages of the bias. The circuitry controls the power source to increase the peak-to-peak voltage of the bias in response to increase in at least one of temperature and humidity, when the time-averaged voltage of the bias is on a return side of returning the toner to the image bearer, from the median value.
