The attribute information of the 3D image is recorded in each of hierarchized management information files as an attribute in units of management data of each of the management information files. When a coding method is a frame sequential method, frame identification data indicating whether each frame is a left-eye image (L image) or a right-eye image (R image) are recorded; and when the coding method is an inter-view reference coding method where any one of L and R images is referred to during decoding, base image identification data indicating which one of the L and R images is a base image are recorded. Thereby, a playing apparatus can determine an attribute of a frame without performing analysis of data to be played.

    摘要: For a large capacity recording medium, a user interface having high flexibility and enriched representation is accomplished. A flag that represents whether a play item has a multiple angle structure of which the play item is reproduced with a plurality of angles is described. In addition, a flag that represents whether the beginning of each decode unit is an angle switchable point is described. In a seamless multiple angle structure, the current angle can be switched without need to increase the number of interleave units. In a nonseamless multiple angle structure, with the flag, in a predetermined region on the rear end side of each angle, the current angle is prohibited from being switched. Thus, when a play item exits from the multiple angle, discontinuity in the reproduction can be prevented. In addition, with a flag that represents whether a sub play item should be reproduced not in synchronization with a main path, the sub play item of only audio data can be used as a BGM.

A playing apparatus acquires information unique to the coding method from the attribute information, so a decoding process corresponding to the coding method can be performed without error.

    摘要: The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for reproducing a recording medium that require input of a code number only once when the code number is required to be inputted to both a directory and a PlayList for reproduction. A plurality of directories such as DVR, DVR1, DVRn and the like are formed on a disk. One directory DVR has a flag DVR_protect_flag set therein for controlling reproduction of information belonging in the directory. Also, .rpls in PLAYLIST, which is one piece of information in the directory DVR, has a playback_control_flag set therein for controlling reproduction thereof. In a case where the DVR_protect_flag is 1, the reproduction is allowed only when a correct code number is inputted. In a case where the DVR_protect_flag and the playback_control_flag are both 1, input of the code number for the playback_control_flag is omitted when the correct code number has already been inputted for the DVR_protect_flag.
