Abstract:
A small or special media guide-in tray including a media tray, an aperture disposed in the media tray, first and second opposed guide arms extending through the aperture and biased to a first position. The first and second opposed guide arms are pivotally mounted and are synchronously movable when small media is inserted. The opposed guide arms and biasing are used to automatically center the small media as it is inserted between the guide arms. The guide-in tray may be utilized with media handling devices having an L-path media feed wherein the guide-in media tray is incorporated in an input tray or in a C-path media feed wherein the guide-in media tray is incorporated in an exit tray.
Abstract:
A moveable media dam comprises a media dam rotatably connected to a dam shaft, the dam shaft extending from a lever. An arm has at least one camming member and the lever is engaged by the at least one camming member. The arm operably engages a gear train and further comprises an arm ring disposed over a gear of the gear train. The media dam is moveable between a first and second position. The device functions to clear a media feed zone and align leading edges of media sheets in order to inhibit multi-sheet feeds.
Abstract:
A media feedpath having a feed assist roller, comprises a media feedpath having a C-shaped portion, a media input and a feed roll nip, an input roller feeding media from the media input, a feed assist roller downstream of the C-shaped portion of the media feedpath, the feed assist roller assisting media indexing through the media feedpath on a single side and without an opposed pinch roller, the feed roll nip having a driven roller and a feed roll pinch roll opposite the driven roll, the feed assist roller being driven by a toggle gear transmission from the driven roller of the feed roll nip, the gear train adapted for toggling to operably engage or disengage the feed assist roller depending on a driving direction of the driven roller of the feed roll nip.
Abstract:
An open jam-door sensor having a peripheral device such as a printer including a substantially C-shaped feed path, the C-shaped feed path defining an inner guide and an outer guide, the outer guide being connected to the peripheral device. A media sensor for detecting type of media in the device is disposed on one of said guide opposite a reflective portion disposed on the other of said guides. The media sensor also being used to detect when the outer guide is in an open position and causing a processor to inhibit device operations, such as printing.

Abstract:
A device for controlled orientation of a person's cervical spine that is compatible with medical imaging machines. The device is capable of rotation about the axis of a patient's spinal column independent of, or in addition to, flexion/extension of a patient's spinal column. The device may incorporate locking mechanisms to secure rotational orientation and may include quantitative indicators of the degree of rotation.
Abstract:
A fuser for fusing toner images to a receiving sheet includes a pressure roller and a fusing belt. The fusing belt has leading and trailing ends. A towing device is positioned to receive both the leading and trailing ends of the belt to form an endless belt. The towing device is moved through a path which moves the fusing belt through an endless path, which path includes a fusing nip with the pressure roller. The belt is backed by a heated roller at the fusing nip which defines a portion of the endless path and cooperates with the pressure roller to provide pressure in the nip.
Abstract:
An electrostatographic copier/printer, preferably of the type in which toner images are thermally transferred from an image-recording element to an image receiver sheet, includes an electrostatic charge generator, preferably an AC corona charger, which is positioned to neutralize residual charge on the image-receiving member following the transfer of a toner image thereto, as well as to neutralize the charge on untransferred toner prior to removal of such toner from the recording element.
Abstract:
An image-forming apparatus particularly usable in making multicolor toner images includes toning stations in pairs. First and second toning stations each have a toner applicator. A spacing roller or disk is mounted at each end of each applicator. Because the toning unit includes two stations and two applicators, the four disks can be used to accurately position the applicators with respect to an image surface such as a photoconductive drum.
Abstract:
A toner image, for example, a multicolor toner image, is transferred to a receiving sheet carried by a heated transfer drum. The multicolor image is fixed by pressure between a fusing web or sheet and the toner image exerted by a heated pressure roller and the transfer drum. The fusing web or sheet and the receiving sheet are transported away from the transfer drum and pressure roller to cool, after which they are separated.
