摘要: The present invention relates to a bowfishing method, bowfishing system and laser bowfishing sight for targeting and illuminating an underwater target. The position of the target is compensated for the refraction of light in the practice of the method and sighting in of the system of the present invention. The laser bowfishing sight includes a rotational adjustment for compensating for the refraction of light.

摘要: A sampling probe for enabling the analysis of gaseous species in a particle-laden flue gas. The sampling probe includes a tube for being inserted into a fluid stream of a particle-laden flue gas substantially perpendicular thereto to cause the fluid stream to separate and flow around the tube. The tube includes a first opening extending along a first axially extending face of the tube downstream relative to the fluid stream such that a portion of the gas enters the tube through the first opening for analysis within the tube, and a second opening extending along a second axially extending face of the tube such that the gas that enters the tube through the first opening exits the tube after analysis into the fluid stream through the second opening to allow analysis of the gas.

摘要: An adaptive driver warning methodology takes into account the driver gaze during a steady-state interval following a precipitating event that will potentially lead to the issuance of a driver warning. The elapsed steady-state time following the precipitating event is compared with the duration of continuous non-forward driver gaze following the precipitating event. If the duration of continuous non-forward driver gaze is less than the elapsed steady-state time, the warning parameters are established in a manner to de-sensitize or de-emphasize the driver warning. As a result, the driver warning is de-sensitized or de-emphasized even though the driver temporarily glances away from the forward direction during the steady-state interval following the precipitating event.

摘要: A system and method of assessing the driving task demand on the driver of a vehicle, and further controlling one or more devices on the vehicle as a function of the assessed driver demand is provided. The method includes sensing a coverage zone in relation to a vehicle, determining a presence of one or more objects in the sensed zone, measuring speed of each detected object in the sensed zone, determining a variation in speed of one or more sensed objects, and determining a driving task demand signal indicative of driving task demand of the vehicle as a function of the measured speed variability. The method controls one or more devices on the vehicle based on the driving task demand signal. Alternately, the driving task demand signal is determined based on vehicle speed.

摘要: A novel Automatic Call Distribution (ACD) Center allows an on-hold customer, upon learning of an unacceptable waiting time for service, to accept a date- and time-stamped “Priority Token,” and then end the current telephone call. If the customer calls the ACD Center back within a predefined Token Window (stored in the ACD system memory and announced to the customer as he/she is receiving the Priority Token), as indicated by the automatic presentation of the Priority Token, the customer is placed back into the queue position he/she had during the previous call, or if that queue position has already passed, the customer is placed at the top of the queue to be served by the next available agent. The Priority Token stored in the ACD system memory includes the Directory Number in the preferred embodiment for ease of detection of calls incoming to the ACD Center. In a more advanced version of the present invention, the customer also receives a multi-digit Priority Code corresponding to the Priority Token. The Priority Code allows the customer to make a return telephone call from a different Directory Number, key-in a feature activation code (e.g., “*42”) followed by the Priority Code, and be returned to his/her previous queue position.

摘要: In a system and method for the collection of alphanumeric data from Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) at the behest of an enhanced service provider (such as a utility company) requesting said data, a CPE transmits the data in the form of a synthesized voice signal, obviating the need for modems. The invention is useful for applications such as Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) and Home and Business Electronic Systems (HBES). The targeted CPE in such a system, after being connected to a remote applications server via a telephone call including “suppressed ringing,” converts data collected to a standard voice signal via a voice synthesizer and transmits the voice signal to the applications server. The applications server performs a speech-to-text conversion to place the data back into its alphanumeric form.
