摘要: A method of minimizing jitter in a system for rate adapting a data signal for transport through a synchronous network. A phase difference is measured between a data clock synchronous with the data signal and a local clock of the synchronous network. A timing reference (F) indicative of a frequency difference between the asynchronous data signal and the local clock is measured using the measured phase difference. Calculation of the timing reference includes compensating ambiguity in the measured phase difference.

摘要: In a decoder implementing a belief propagation algorithm for iteratively decoding a Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) encoded data block, a method of computing messages to be sent by a first node of the decoder to at least one neighbour node of the decoder. The method comprises: processing messages received by the first node to remove an echo of a previous message sent by the first node to the at least one neighbour node in a previous iteration, to yield corresponding modified messages; computing a message for a current iteration using the modified messages; and broadcasting the computed message for the current iteration to each of the at least one neighbour nodes.

摘要: Forward Error Correction technique: parity vectors are computed such that each parity vector spans multiple FEC frames; in a given FEC frame, a first set of syndrome bits are due to the parity vectors, and a second set of syndrome bits satisfy FEC equations that involve bits of the given FEC frame including the first set of syndrome bits; and the parity vectors are staggered with respect to any sequence in which the FEC frames are processed. Values of decoded bits of a first frame are deduced from known bits of a first parity vector having an effective length of one frame. For parity vectors having an effective length greater than one frame, a Log Likelihood Ratio of each unknown bit associated with the first frame is updated based on known and unknown bits of each parity vector. First frame is decoded using deduced bit values and updated LLR values.

摘要: In a Forward Error Correction (FEC) technique, parity vectors are computed such that: each parity vector spans a set of frames; a subset of bits of each frame is associated with parity bits in each parity vector; and a location of parity bits associated with one frame in one parity vector is different from that of parity bits associated with the frame in another parity vector. Values of decoded bits of a first frame are deduced from known parity bits of a first parity vector having an effective length of one frame. For parity vectors having, an effective length greater than one frame, a Log Likelihood Ratio of each unknown parity bit associated with the first frame is updated based on known and unknown parity bits of each parity vector. The first frame is decoded using the deduced bit values and the updated LLR values.

摘要: A method of controlling optical signal traffic in an optical network between a transmitter and a plurality of receivers, where the transmitter is adapted to compensate optical impairments based on at least one optical parameter, includes steps of identifying each path between the transmitter and the plurality of receivers, determining a respective optical parameter for each path, selecting one of the receivers for receiving an optical signal from the transmitter, and enabling the transmitter to generate the optical signal using the respective optical parameter of the path between the transmitter and the selected receiver. By preconfiguring compensation parameters for the various paths in the network, an all-optical network can be implemented wherein optical signals can be switched, added or dropped without having to match dispersion maps or perform optical-electrical-optical regeneration.
