An object of the present invention is to provide a method and an apparatus for marking an electric wire at a low cost. An apparatus 1 for marking an electric wire forms a band mark 21 on a part of an outer face 5a of the electric wire 3. The band mark 21 is formed along the entire circumference of the part of the outer face 5a of the electric wire 3. The marking apparatus 1 tightens the electric wire 3 in a state where a tensile force is applied in a longitudinal direction. The marking apparatus 1 includes a nozzle 35 for injecting coloring agent toward an uppermost position 10 of the outer face 5a of the electric wire 3. The nozzle 35 has an open end 42 which is opposed to the electric wire 3 and capable of passing the coloring agent. A straight line L extending between a center C1 of the open end 42 and a center C2 of the electric wire 3 lies along a vertical direction.

An object of this invention is to provide a connector housing which can be prevented a terminal-receiving chamber from receiving a wrong metal terminal. A connector housing 1 comprises a plurality of terminal-receiving chambers 20 and a plurality of marks 21. The terminal-receiving chamber 20 receives a male terminal 3. Electric wire 2 is attached to the male terminal 3. A mark 6 is formed on an outer surface 5a of the electric wire 2. A color of the mark 6 of one electric wire 2 is a first color R. A color of the mark 6 of the other electric wire 2 is a second color G. The first color R is different from the second color G. The mark 21 corresponds to each terminal-receiving chamber 20. A color of one mark 21 is the first color R, which is the same as the color of the mark 6 of the one electric wire 2. A color of the other mark 21 is the second color G, which is the same as the color of the mark 6 of the other electric wire 2. By forming the mark 21 in a same color as the mark 6 of the electric wire 2 attached to the male terminal 3 which is to be inserted into the terminal-receiving chamber 20 corresponding to the mark 21, the mark 21 indicates the male terminal 3 to be received by the terminal-receiving chamber 20 corresponding to the mark 21.

The present invention provides electrical cables that can be surely discriminated from one another, even when only a part of an outer surface of each cable is exposed. An electrical cable 1 has an electrically conductive core 5 and a sheathing layer 6 covering the core 5. The sheathing layer 6 has an outer surface 6a with a mono-color. On the outer surface 6a, a first mark 7 and a second mark 8 are provided. At an end 1a of the cable 1, the first mark 7 is provided on a first outer surface 1b while the second mark 8 is provided on a second outer surface 1c positioned oppositely to the first surface 1b of the sheathing layer 6. On the first outer surface 1b, a plurality of the first and second marks 7, 8 are provided to be alternately positioned in a longitudinal direction of the cable 1. The first mark 7 has a first color R while the second mark 8 has a second color G different from the first color R. Desirable variation in hue of the first and second colors R, G allows discrimination of the cables 1 from each other.

An object of the present invention is to provide a wiring harness job-order production method and a wiring harness job-order production system, wherein a space for producing a wiring harness is reduced and the production efficiency of the wiring harness is improved. The wiring harness job-order production system 1 has a wiring harness assembling portion 15, an electric wire stock portion 13, and a parts stock portion 14. The wiring harness assembling portion 15 outputs wire amount data DT1 to the electric wire stock portion 13 when the wiring harness assembling portion 15 receives an order from a wiring harness ordering side 38. The wiring harness assembling portion 15 outputs parts amount data DT2 to the parts stock portion 14 when the wiring harness assembling portion 15 receives an order from the wiring harness ordering side 38. The electric wire stock portion 13 conveys a non-colored electric wire toward the wiring harness assembling portion 15. The parts stock portion 14 conveys non-colored parts toward the wiring harness assembling portion 15.

An electric wire, in which a color of an outer surface of the electric wire is securely prevented from coming off, is provided. The electric wire (1) includes a core wire (4), coating (5), mark (23) and coating layer (6). The coating (5) coats the core wire (4). The mark (23) is formed on an outer surface (5a) of the coating (5). A coloring agent is allowed to adhere to the outer surface (5a), thereby forming the mark (23). The coating layer (6) is formed on the mark (23) and the outer surface (5a). The coating layer (6) consists of PVA. A thickness of the coating layer (6) consisting of PVA may be from 0.02 mm to 0.22 mm.

A method and a system of manufacturing electric wires by ordering, possible to save the cost and materials, is provided. A system includes an order-receiving section, a manufacturing section and a coloring/cutting section. The order-receiving section receives orders of electric wires, and outputs a first datum of amount of electric wires DT1, informing a length of a monochromatic electric wire, and outputs a second datum of amount of electric wires DT2, informing lengths for respective colors of electric wires. The manufacturing section manufactures a monochromatic electric wire according to the first datum DT1 and conveys the electric wire to the coloring/cutting section. The coloring/cutting section colors and cuts the electric wire according to the second datum DT2.

The invention provides an electrical cable reuse method which reduces a long time stock of cables. For assembling a wiring harness, step S1 reuses special electrical cables stocked in an electrical cable storehouse, and the cables having been colored in a first color are coated with a second color. Step 2 cuts ordinary cables and special cables each in a desired length, removes a part of a cable sheath of each cable, and fits a terminal piece to the exposed part. Step 3 connects ordinary cables and the special cables with each other. Step 4 inserts the terminal piece into a connector housing.
