摘要: A device for electrodepositing aluminum from an aprotic, oxygen-free, water-free aluminum-organic electrolyte, which comprises an electroplating tank, which is subdivided into a plurality of identical individual cells for receiving an electrolyte and anode plates, which cells contain support racks and are positioned one after another in a line or row, and the tank has a hood forming a protective chamber which contains a protective atmosphere. To charge and discharge workpiece holders into and out of the device includes a charging lock at one end of the row of cells forming the tank, a discharging lock at the other end of the row and a conveyor in the tank.

摘要: A device for continuously processing an article such as by electroplating including a tank equipped with a horizontally disposed rotating electroplating drum, an entry station disposed for introducing an article to one end of the drum and an exit station for removing the processed article from the drum. The electroplating tank as well as the entrance and exit stations are provided with gas-tight seals so that the device may be utilized for an oxygen-free and water-free aluminum-organic electrolyte for the electrodeposition of aluminum. Preferably, the entrance and exit stations contain liquid locks to prevent the controlled atmosphere above the electrolyte from being contaminated.

摘要: An installation for electro-depositing metal, such as aluminum, on elongated goods such as tapes or wires characterized by a tubular cell, which is closed to the outside and provided with airlock arrangements at each end so that goods can be conveyed therethrough in contact with an electrolyte for electroplating. The cell is formed of a plurality of interconnected rectangular tubes with each tube having a flange at each end for forming a connection and receiving interchangeable nonconductive insert pieces, which match the interior dimensions of the tube and have atleast two longitudinal channels for guiding the goods to be metallized and for positioning anodes to surround the goods to be metallized in the flow of electrolyte.

摘要: An improved galvanizing device for the galvanic precipitation of aluminum from an anhydrous, aprotic, and oxygen-free aluminum-organic electrolyte is provided. The original device having an annularly shaped galvanizing trough, which is sealed from the atmosphere, and which utilizes a centrally located and rotatable contacting and holding mechanism for guiding the goods carriers around and through the electrolyte is herein provided with separate charging and discharging locks attached to the galvanizing trough. Each of the locks is provided with a U-shaped fluid lock to maintain the gaseous seal and an endless chain conveyor to transport the goods carrier to and from the galvanizing trough.

摘要: Aluminum electroplating installations containing aprotic electrolyte bath systems typically require an electrolyte operating temperature of over 80.degree. C. in order to achieve useable aluminum precipitations. The warming-up and heating of such aluminum electrolyte baths has heretofore been accomplished with indirect heating methods, such as surrounding the baths with a heating jacket or by conducting electrolyte out of the bath through a heat exchanger and then returning the heated electrolyte. The present invention concerns a more efficient heating method whereby Joule's heat is used to heat an aprotic electrolyte bath. Accordingly, at least two electrodes are immersed into the electrolyte and charged with alternating pulses by a square wave pulse generator such that a heating current flows through the electrolyte. The anodes and cathodes of the aluminization electrolyte bath are preferably used as the heating electrodes.
