    摘要: A projection apparatus includes a polarizing converter which converts a light beam from a light source to a polarized beam; a color separator which separates the polarized beam into color beams based on wavelength; first through third optical path modifiers each of which modifies an optical path associated with a corresponding one of the color beams; first through third polarized light separators, each of which receives a corresponding one of the first through third color beams from the optical path modifiers; first through third reflective image display elements, each of which receives a corresponding one of the first through third color beams from the corresponding polarized light separator and provides a reflected beam to the corresponding polarized light separator; a color combiner which combines the reflected beams from the reflective image display elements of the polarized light separator; and a projection lens which projects a color image.

    摘要: In an illumination optical system and a color combining optical system of a projection apparatus using three image display elements, the object of the present invention is to reduce misconvergence of enlarged images displayed on a screen. The present invention provides a projection apparatus including light-detecting elements provided outside of an effective screen display area. An active region of image display elements for each color beam is controlled respectively based on results of the light-detecting elements in order to adjust display position of each color beam on the screen.

    摘要: By making the beam polarization state in a cross prism having a dichroic function for an incident beam on a reflection type liquid crystal panel the same as that for a reflected ON beam, a small-sized, low cost projection type projector apparatus is provided. A Faraday rotator having a Faraday rotation angle of 45 degrees is disposed on an optical path between a PBS and a cross prism. A half-wave plate having such a polarization axis as to rotate a polarization angle of linearly polarized light by 45 or 135 degrees is disposed on an optical immediately before or behind the Faraday rotator.

    摘要: The image display device is configured to include the light source including a plurality of semiconductor light-emitting elements, a parallelizing unit including a plurality of cell lenses arranged in a one-to-one correspondence with each of the plurality of semiconductor light-emitting elements, an image display element for forming an optical image, a pair of lens-array groups located between the parallelizing unit and the image display element, and a projection unit for enlarging and projecting the optical image formed on the image display element. Moreover, the plurality of semiconductor light-emitting elements are located at substantially focal points of the cell lenses of the parallelizing unit. Furthermore, there exist at least two types of semiconductor light-emitting elements' groups, light beams on optical axes of the semiconductor light-emitting elements belonging to the two types of semiconductor light-emitting elements' groups existing on straight lines which are different from optical axes of the lens-array groups.
