    Abstract: An elevator arrangement including an elevator with an elevator control system, a safety system and an inspection or maintenance mode, which elevator having an elevator car arranged to run up and down in an elevator shaft along guide rails, and which elevator car is equipped with a roof. The roof of the elevator car is arranged to uncover upper part of the elevator car in order to form a natural safe working space inside the elevator car, and that the arrangement includes a control mechanism in order to control the position of the roof.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for transporting construction material and/or equipment inside a building under construction, wherein the building under construction comprises plurality of vertically displaced floors, the method comprising providing an elevator for transporting transport containers in the building under construction, said elevator comprising at least a load receiving unit vertically movable along one or more guide rail lines in an elevator shaft formed in the building under construction; and providing plurality of transport containers each comprising a container body, and an identification provided on the container body for identifying the container and/or its destination in the building, most preferably the destination floor in the building under construction; providing one or more detectors within the building under construction for detecting identifications of containers when they are within the detection ranges of the one or more detectors; moving a first transport container belonging to said plurality of transport containers to a loading floor; loading the first transport container belonging to said plurality of containers on the load receiving unit; determining by a control system destination floor of the first container comprising detecting the identification of the first transport container with a detector; automatically moving the load receiving unit vertically in the elevator shaft to the destination floor of the first container; and unloading the first transport container from the load receiving unit to the destination floor of said first container. The invention also relates to a method for constructing a building and an arrangement, which implement the aforementioned method.

    Abstract: The object of the invention is an arrangement for adjusting the tautness of a traction member of an elevator, which arrangement comprises an elevator car and a compensating weight, which are for their part connected to support the elevator car by the aid of a suspension member, such as a rope or belt, and also a hoisting machine provided with a traction sheave, and one traction member, such as a belt, which is adapted to transmit the rotational movement of the traction sheave into movement of the elevator car and of the compensating weight, and also a tension control means, which is arranged to adjust the magnitude of the tension forces exerted on the suspension member and on the traction member. The arrangement comprises a tensioning means connected to the traction member, and the tension control means is connected to that part of the traction member that is on the side of the compensating weight with respect to the traction sheave, and the tensioning means is connected to that part of the traction member that is on the side of the elevator car with respect to the traction sheave.

    Abstract: The invention relates to an elevator arrangement, comprising a hoistway one or more vertically oriented guide rail lines in the hoistway for guiding vertical movement of one or more movable elevator units, and one or more movable elevator units mounted in the hoistway vertically movably along one or more guide rail lines, including at least an elevator car, preferably also a counterweight, and a hoisting roping; a movable support structure mounted in the hoistway for supporting said one or more movable elevator units below it via said hoisting roping, and a hoisting machine on the movable support structure for moving the hoisting roping, for thereby moving said one or more movable elevator units. Said movable support structure comprises a body portion, and a shelf structure projecting laterally from the body portion, and the hoisting machine is mounted on the shelf structure.     Abstract: The method includes loading and/or unloading the car, determining whether the car doors are fully closed or not fully open, measuring a total actual axial mass FΣact hanging from the traction sheave, determining a stalling limit total minimum axial mass FΣmin, checking reopening of the car doors, whereby if the car doors are reopened, then return to beginning, else, continue, permitting starting of elevator, comparing the total actual axial mass with the stalling limit total minimum axial mass, whereby if the total actual axial mass is equal to or greater than the stalling limit total minimum axial mass, then permit normal run of the elevator car to the next landing, else, stop the elevator.
