Abstract: The arrangement comprises a self-climbing installation platform comprising two consecutive decks, a machine room deck suspended from the installation platform and an elevator car suspended from the machine room deck. Each deck, the machine room deck and the car are supported movably with guide means on guide rails and locked and unlocked with locking means to the guide rails and/or to guide rail fixing means. Lifting means powered by a power source move the two decks in relation to each other. The installation platform climbs stepwise along the guide rails by alternatingly locking and unlocking the lower deck and the upper deck to the guide rails and/or to the guide rail fixing means and thereafter raising the unlocked deck.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for transporting construction material and/or equipment inside a building under construction, wherein the building under construction comprises plurality of vertically displaced floors, the method comprising providing an elevator for transporting transport containers in the building under construction, said elevator comprising at least a load receiving unit vertically movable along one or more guide rail lines in an elevator shaft formed in the building under construction; and providing plurality of transport containers each comprising a container body, and an identification provided on the container body for identifying the container and/or its destination in the building, most preferably the destination floor in the building under construction; providing one or more detectors within the building under construction for detecting identifications of containers when they are within the detection ranges of the one or more detectors; moving a first transport container belonging to said plurality of transport containers to a loading floor; loading the first transport container belonging to said plurality of containers on the load receiving unit; determining by a control system destination floor of the first container comprising detecting the identification of the first transport container with a detector; automatically moving the load receiving unit vertically in the elevator shaft to the destination floor of the first container; and unloading the first transport container from the load receiving unit to the destination floor of said first container. The invention also relates to a method for constructing a building and an arrangement, which implement the aforementioned method.

Abstract: The object of the invention is an arrangement for adjusting the tautness of a traction member of an elevator, which arrangement comprises an elevator car and a compensating weight, which are for their part connected to support the elevator car by the aid of a suspension member, such as a rope or belt, and also a hoisting machine provided with a traction sheave, and one traction member, such as a belt, which is adapted to transmit the rotational movement of the traction sheave into movement of the elevator car and of the compensating weight, and also a tension control means, which is arranged to adjust the magnitude of the tension forces exerted on the suspension member and on the traction member. The arrangement comprises a tensioning means connected to the traction member, and the tension control means is connected to that part of the traction member that is on the side of the compensating weight with respect to the traction sheave, and the tensioning means is connected to that part of the traction member that is on the side of the elevator car with respect to the traction sheave.

Abstract: The self-climbing elevator machine room comprises two decks positioned upon each other. Lifting means move the two decks along the guide rails in relation to each other. At least one power source provides power to the lifting means. The elevator machine room climbs stepwise along the guide rails by alternatingly locking and unlocking the lower deck and the upper deck to the guide rails and/or to the guide rail fixing means and thereafter raising the unlocked deck.
