摘要： In a color image forming apparatus, a looped belt member is stretched and circulated by at least a drive roller and a driven roller so as to have a tensed side and a slack side. Each of plural image supporting members supports a single color toner image thereon, and abuts onto the slack side of the belt member to define a transferring position at which the toner image is transferred onto either the belt member or a recording medium held by the belt member, while being rotated. A circumferential velocity of each image supporting member is determined so as to be higher than a circulation velocity of the belt member.

摘要： An image forming apparatus which is able to form either single or double sided copies on a recording medium while achieving an excellent image quality in either a matted or glossy finish. The image forming apparatus includes a fixing portion in which a first roller includes a first temperature and hardness for forming a matted image, whereas a second roller includes a higher temperature and hardness for forming a glossy image. Alternatively, or in addition, to different hardness and temperatures, the recording medium can be conveyed at a first speed to form a matted image, and a slower speed to form a glossy image. The image forming apparatus further includes an inverse and re-fixing sub-mode, which utilizes an inverting and returning passage, for reducing the curl in a recording medium, and thus also reducing the instances in which clogging takes place. The inverting and returning passage has a length sufficient to accommodate a plurality of recording mediums. Moreover, the image forming apparatus is provided with first and second discharge passages so that if one passage is clogged, the other can be used to discharge recording mediums. A switching means selects, based on detection sensors, through which discharge passage a recording medium is fed. The operations of the image forming apparatus are coordinated by a control unit.

摘要： A disk drive includes media for recording data, disk heads for recording data and reproducing data on the disks. The heads are supported on arms. A head actuator drives the arms moving the head to a predetermined data recording track on the disk. A spindle motor rotates the disk at a predetermined rotating speed. The spindle motor includes a rotor magnet disposed within a stator coil. The disk head and actuator motor are mounted on a pivot on opposed sides of each other. To control head positioning, first positioning data for positioning the disk heads and second positioning data are provided on each data surface. This data is detected by a data head. Second positioning data may be positioned on tracks not used for containing data. The head position is compensated by the stored second positioning information superimposed on the first positioning data.

In greater detail, a plurality of head units arranged in a direction which intersects a transportation direction of a printing medium is provided, a plurality of cleaning units is disposed to face the plurality of head units, and at least one of the plurality of cleaning units is selected and moved so as to be in close contact with the corresponding cleaning unit. By such a method, only the cleaning head unit which faces the head unit of which nozzles need to be recovered is selected and is brought into contact with the head unit, and liquid is sucked in from the nozzles of the head unit.
