Abstract:
Embodiments pertain to a novel imaging member, namely, an electrostatic latent image generating member that can generate an electrostatic latent image digitally without using a raster output scanner (ROS), photoreceptor and charger. The imaging member facilitates the charge injection process between an organic conjugated polymer and N,N′-diphenyl-N,N′bis(3-methylphenyl)-[1,1′-biphenyl]-4,4′diamine charge transport layer.
Abstract:
A manufacturing method of a lamination body of an electrolytic body and a particle includes the steps of: a) electrostatically charging an electrostatic carrier configured to carry static electricity at a designated polarity; b) contacting the electrostatically charged electrostatic carrier with dispersion liquid formed by dispersing the particle electrostatically charged at a polarity reversed to the designated polarity into a dispersion medium; and c) transferring the particle adhering to the electrostatic carrier to the electrolytic body made of electrolyte.
Abstract:
The object of the invention is to provide an image carrier which is capable of securely preventing the leakage of charge in lateral direction so as to stably conduct the application or removal of charge and which can be easily manufactured. An image carrier comprises a dielectric layer, wherein charge is transferred between the dielectric layer and a charge-transfer controlling means so as to apply charge to or remove charge from the dielectric layer, wherein the dielectric layer is formed in such a structure that a large number of conductive portions are formed to be separately dispersed in its outer surface. Charge is transferred between the conductive portions and the charge-transfer controlling means so as to apply charge to or remove charge from the conductive portions.

Abstract:
An endless belt for use in digital imaging systems is provided having uniform edge to edge flatness, and precise circumferential and edge to edge thickness. The layers comprising the belt may be tailored as desired for use in either latent image formation, image transfer or sheet transport operations. In one embodiment, the belt includes an elastomeric base layer, an intermediate polymer ply over the base layer, and an outer elastomeric layer. Alternatively, the belt includes an elastomeric base layer and an outer polymer layer. The belt may further include reinforcing layers which may comprise a woven or non-woven fabric layer and/or an elastomerimpregnated spun cord layer. The belt is preferably manufactured by building the layers on a workpiece and then curing the layers.
Abstract:
The invention provides rolls, belts and other biasable members having at least one layer or coating of an elastomeric resilient crosslinked polyurethane formed by reacting (a) a polyisocyanate prepolymer comprising the reaction product of an aliphatic polyisocyanate and a polyether polyol, specifically a polyalkylene glycol in which the alkylene group contains 2 to 3 carbon atoms, and (b) a hardening mixture comprising a polyether polyol of (a) and, as a conductivity control agent, from 0.01 to 3.0 weight percent based on the total weight of (b) of a complex of an oligoethylene glycol selected from the group consisting of di-, tri- and tetraethylene glycol with an ionizable alkali metal salt selected from the group consisting of sodium iodide, lithium iodide and sodium thiocyanate. The resistivity of the elastomeric resilient polyurethane coating on the biasable member is controlled or adjusted to within a desired level of resistivity due to the inclusion of the conductivity control agent in the crosslinked polyurethane elastomer. Additionally, the inclusion of the conductivity control agent in the crosslinked polyurethane elastomer reduces the sensitivity of the resistivity of the polyurethane coating on the biasable member to changes in relative humidity. Further, since the conductivity control agent is copolymerized with the polyisocyanate prepolymers and polyols used to make the elastomeric polyurethane coatings of the biasable members of the invention, the conductivity control agent is bonded covalently to the backbone and/or the crosslinking portion of the polyurethane elastomer where it forms a permanently fixed part of the crosslinked polymer and will not migrate therefrom resulting in a continuous change in the resistivity of the polyurethane coating over time and possible adverse affects on materials that may come into contact with the migrating agent. The utility of such biasable members is in the transfer of toner images from a photoconductor to a final support sheet where the member, for example, a bias transfer roll, electrically cooperates with a photoconductor to establish a directional force field therebetween.

An electrostatic image-recording medium comprising a conductive base support having a dielectric layer which comprises a linear polymer having a specific volume resistivity of over 1012 Omega cm and being soluble in a solvent selected from the group consisting of aromatic hydrocarbons, ketones and having fine grains of esters and having fine grains of polycarbonate resin dispersed in said linear polymer; and the process of producing it.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method of and means for transferring recorded signals and latent electrostatic images before development. The insulating medium which is placed over the photoconductor surface is so constructed that the dielectric constant or permittivity on one side is lower than the dielectric constant on the other side. This can be achieved by forming the insulating medium of a laminate of two differing materials of differing dielectric constants.
Abstract:
An electrophotographic photoreceptor includes a conductive substrate; and a photosensitive layer provided on the conductive substrate and containing a resin binder that is a polycarbonate resin having structural units represented by General Formulae (1) and (2). The electrophotographic photoreceptor reduces the amount of wear and provides good images while maintaining a low frictional resistance on the surface of a photoreceptor drum from the beginning until after printing. A method for manufacturing such an electrophotographic photoreceptor includes applying a coating liquid containing at least such a resin binder onto a conductive substrate to thereby form a photosensitive layer. An electrophotographic device is disclosed that is equipped with such an electrophotographic photoreceptor.
Abstract:
An image-bearing article used in liquid contact electrostatic printing (CEP) is formed from polymers that meet the requisite conformance and heat stability for the CEP process. Excessive absorption of toner carrier liquids by the image-bearing article in liquid CEP leads to the deterioration of the image-bearing article and reduces the useful life of the image-bearing article. The absorption of the toner carrier fluid may be controlled by the addition of oxides, silicone elastomers containing phenyl end groups, fluorosilicones or increasing the cross-linking density of the methyl silicones.
