The mobile terminal includes a display configured to display first screen information corresponding to at least a portion of a first page having a predetermined length, a sensor configured to detect a touch received on the display, and a controller configured to control the display to cease displaying at least a portion of the first screen information when the received touch corresponds to a predetermined scheme for displaying another portion of the first screen information, display the another portion of the first screen information in response to the received touch, and display at least a portion of second screen information corresponding to a region beyond an edge of the first page in response to the received touch when the displayed at least a portion of the first screen information corresponds to an edge region of the first page.

The mobile terminal includes a touch screen configured to display a first page; and a controller configured to generate a panel region having a predetermined transparency on a preset region of the touch screen, if a preset touch gesture is applied to the touch screen while the first page is being displayed, and configured to display, on the panel region, at least one first function icon corresponding to information displayed on the first page. A mobile terminal and a method for controlling the same are disclosed. The mobile terminal and the method for controlling the same according to the present invention can execute a specific function corresponding to at least one shaking operation in consideration of a screen displayed on a display unit, a direction of the shaking operation and the number of times of sensing the shaking operation, upon sensing of the at least one shaking operation, and display a result screen of executing the specific function. According to the present invention, it is possible to arouse user's interest by providing different screens according to shaking operations of the mobile terminal and to provide user convenience by executing a specific function only by shaking the mobile terminal.
