Abstract: A laundry treating apparatus includes a drum including a drum body, a front cover, and a rear cover, a fixed panel that is spaced apart from the rear cover and defines a panel inlet and a panel outlet, a rotor, an exhaust duct configured to guide air from the drum to the panel outlet, a heat exchanger configured dehumidify air in the exhaust duct, a flow path forming part fixed to the fixed panel and in contact with the drum, a duct body fixed to the fixed panel and configured to guide air from the panel outlet to the panel inlet, the duct body receiving the rotor, and a flow path guide configured to guide a portion of the air from the panel outlet to the duct body in a clockwise direction and another portion of the air from the panel outlet to the duct body in a counterclockwise direction.

Abstract: A method for controlling a laundry treating apparatus is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a main-drum and an auxiliary-drum selectively mounted on or separated from the main-drum. The method may comprise: a main laundry quantity detection operation for detecting a laundry quantity in the main-drum via rotation of a pulsator disposed in the main-drum; and an auxiliary laundry quantity detection operation for detecting a laundry quantity in the auxiliary-drum by driving the main-drum, wherein the auxiliary laundry quantity detection operation is performed based on the main laundry quantity detected in the main laundry quantity detection operation.

Abstract: An apparatus for treating laundry includes a cabinet and a drum. The cabinet includes a base panel, a support panel fixed to the base panel, and a fixed panel fixed to the base panel. The drum includes a cylindrical drum body and a drum entrance defined at a front cover of the cylindrical drum body. The apparatus further includes a support panel perforated hole defined at the support panel and in communication with the drum entrance, a drum connecting body provided at the support panel and connecting the support panel perforated hole to the drum entrance, and a drive part. The drive part includes a stator configured to generate a rotating field, a rotor configured to be rotated by the rotating field, and a power transmission part that is fixed to the fixed panel and that is configured to transmit a rotational motion of the rotor to the drum.

The method comprises a water current forming step comprising performing a basket motion and a pulsate motion and a cooling step comprising lowering the temperature of the drive unit. The basket motion is configured to form water current in the wash water held in the tub and in the sub-drum simultaneously. The pulsate motion is configured to form water current in wash water held in the drum while the pulsator is driven. A performance timing of the cooling step is preset in at least one of the wash cycle or the rinse cycle.

A method for controlling the laundry apparatus may include rotating the main drum to cause a centrifugal force for discharging water from the auxiliary drum before supplying washing water into the auxiliary drum. The method may include one of washing laundry in the main drum while the auxiliary drum is separated from the main drum, washing laundry in only the auxiliary drum while the auxiliary drum is mounted on the main drum, or washing laundry simultaneously in the auxiliary drum and the main drum while the auxiliary drum is mounted on the main drum.
