Abstract: The present teachings provide methods, devices, systems, and materials for performing electrophoresis in an automated fashion. The electrophoresis system may simultaneously image gel during an electrophoresis run. In some embodiments, the electrophoresis system may analyze an imaged gel during or after electrophoresis. The device may comprise a gel processing system, a gel illumination system, an image capture system, and an image analysis all housed within a housing.
