Abstract: A method for reacting one or more hydrocarbons by steam cracking including conducting one or more input streams containing the one or more hydrocarbons, obtaining one or more product streams, through one or more radiation zones of one or more cracker furnaces, in which the one or more radiation zones are heated by firing heating gas with combustion air, in which at least a portion of the combustion air is subjected to combustion air preheating in which steam is produced from feed water, and in which the feed water is subjected to feed water preheating in one or more convection zones of the one or more cracker furnaces. The combustion air preheating is carried out at least in part and/or at least temporarily using heat withdrawn from at least part of the feed water upstream of the feed water preheating.

Abstract: A method of steam cracking includes using a steam cracking arrangement that has a fired cracking furnace, a quench cooling train, and rotating equipment at least partly driven by electric energy. A process gas stream is passed through the furnace and the cooling train. A steam generation arrangement, operated in thermal association with the cracking arrangement, results in superheated high pressure steam at a first pressure level of 30 and 175 bar absolute pressure and at a first temperature level. No steam at a higher temperature level than the first is generated. The superheated high pressure steam is partially adiabatically and isenthalpically expanded to a second lower pressure level. The first temperature level is selected such that each intermediate temperature level reached at intermediate pressure levels of more than 20 bar during the adiabatic and isenthalpic expansion process is between 5 and 120 K above the dew point of steam.

Abstract: A process (100) is proposed for the production of one or more olefins, in which a reaction feed containing oxygen and one or more paraffins is formed and in which a part of the oxygen in the reaction feed is reacted with a part of the one or more paraffins to form the one or more olefins by an oxidative process, to obtain a process gas, the process gas containing at least the unreacted part of the one or more paraffins and oxygen, the one or more olefins, one or more acetylenes, carbon dioxide and water. The process comprises subjecting the process gas or a gas mixture formed using at least a part of the process gas partially or completely to a condensate separation (2), a compression (3), an at least partial removal (4) of the oxygen and acetylene(s) and to one or more stages of a carbon dioxide removal (5) in the order given herein, wherein the at least partial removal (4) of the oxygen and of the acetylene(s) is performed at the same time and by a catalytic conversion using a catalyst comprising copper oxide or ruthenium, and wherein the catalytic conversion is performed at least in part in the form of a hydrogenation. A corresponding plant is also the subject of the present invention.

Abstract: Producing a product hydrocarbon includes subjecting a feed mixture containing a feed hydrocarbon and oxygen to selective oxidation to obtain a product mixture containing product hydrocarbon and water. A subsequent mixture is formed from a portion of the product mixture by separating a portion of the water. Oxygen in the feed mixture is partially converted during the selective oxidation, so that the product mixture has a first residual oxygen content and the subsequent mixture has a second residual oxygen content. Detection of the first and/or the second residual oxygen content is performed using a first measuring device. A second measuring device at the end of the catalyst bed detects temperature. Using a process control and/or evaluation unit, measurement data of the first and/or second measuring device(s) are detected and are evaluated and/or processed while obtaining follow-up data. Process control is carried out on the basis of the follow-up data.
