    摘要: An apparatus and a method for removing a liquid from a container having a bowl and a flange, the bowl holding the liquid and containing a hydrophilic ophthalmic lens, wherein there is provided a nozzle with a central face and a shoulder around the periphery of the face. The shoulder has a sealing means which is sized to fit on the flange of the container, where it forms a sealed volume above the container bowl, this volume including the volume of the bowl itself. The central face has through it at lease one fluid entrance passage and at least one fluid exit passage arranged so that the flow is distributed substantially symmetric about the center axis of the lens. The apparatus includes a lens retainer which resiliently urges the lens into engagement with the bowl so that when the purging fluid is introduced into the sealed volume, there is no migration of the lens. There is connected to the entrance passage a source of purging fluid that has a pressure and flow sufficient to remove substantially all the liquid through the exit passage.

    摘要: A pump having a center section including an actuator housing and an air valve is arranged with air chambers to either side of the actuator housing. Diaphragms are associated with the air chambers to create enclosed cavities for alternately pressurizing and venting the diaphragms. The actuator uses a pilot shifting shaft which is shuttled by movement of the diaphragms. An air valve is controlled by the shuttle shifting shaft to control flow to and from the air chambers. The passageways from the air chambers to exhaust find the passage to the outlet being at least as restrictive to air flow as the remainder of the passageways so as to prevent major pressure decreases within the actuator body. A diffuser includes a thin space between two surfaces into which the exhaust is directed. One of the surfaces is associated with a porous block of material. Exhausting air is distributed within the space and then passed through the porous block of material. The cylindrical orifice through which flow radially passes is roughly the same cross section as the restricted exhaust passageway. The air valve includes a cylinder closed at one end with an end cap positioned at the other end. The end cap is arranged with a plug that fits within the cylinder so as to seal without close tolerance on axial positioning. Bolts retaining the air valve and the actuator housing also retain the end cap as well.

The method includes determining direct and cross displacement-to-force receptances of a standard holder clamped in the spindle. The method also includes determining direct receptances at a free end of the standard holder based upon the determined direct and cross displacement-to-force receptances of the standard holder. Additionally, the method includes performing an inverse receptance coupling to simulate a decomposition of the standard holder into multiple subassemblies, the subassemblies including a spindle-holder base subassembly and an extended holder subassembly. The method further includes determining spindle-holder base subassembly receptances based upon the simulated decomposition of the standard holder.

    摘要: An object of this invention is to provide an improved stormwater diversion device that offers a more precise, easy to install and accurate means for diverting stormwater flow than any of the aforementioned prior art techniques. Referring now to the drawings, a flow rate gauge (1) is displayed on top of the apparatus clearly allows the installer to easily calibrate the device's potential flow rate to fit any particular need/situation without having to change the dimension of the box itself. Quite simply, after the device is fitted to the storm sewer structure, and the structure (e.g. inlet box) is installed in the field; the installer is merely required to use a lug wrench to either accommodate more flow, by turning the adjustment nut (2) counter-clockwise resulting in the movement (opening) of the gate (3) along the track (4) or reduce the allowed flow rate, by turning clockwise resulting in the movement (closure) of the gate (3) along the track (4). While the movement of the gate adjusts the aperture (orifice) size, the gauge (1) will continually allow the installer to observe what flow rate would be achieved depending on the setting of the gate (3). A qualified engineer knowledgeable in hydrological methods would determine the selected flow rate required.

Pumping chambers are positioned outwardly of the diaphragms and assembled with intake and exhaust manifolds and one-way valves to pump materials with operation of the diaphragms. The actuator uses a pilot shifting shaft which is shuttled by movement of the diaphragms. An air valve is controlled by the pilot shifting shaft to control flow to and from the air chambers. Diffusers include outwardly tapered oblong holes with ports from the air valves. An expansion chamber surrounds the diffusers and a exit to a standard muffler provides a smaller cross-sectional area than the diffuser outlet cross-sectional area.

    摘要: The horizontal wrapping machine of the type wherein a succession of articles are fed into a traveling tube of web material which is sealed longitudinally and severed and sealed between the articles to produce individual hermetically sealed packages. A variable speed motor drives a conveyor which may be provided with article feeding flights and a switch, actuated once each revolution of a timing shaft, provides a pulse corresponding to each flight on the article feeding conveyor. In addition an encoder driven by the variable speed drive motor shaft provides a digital velocity signal used as a reference signal for servo motors that may be coupled, in combination or individually, to drive web feed rolls, longitudinal sealing wheels and one or more sealing and severing heads. A delivery conveyor transporting individual packages may, through a suitable drive train, be driven by the variable speed drive motor. The velocity and position of the servo motors is established and controlled through an industrial computer, at a percentage of the velocity of the variable speed drive motor. Thus, the digital velocity and position signal input to the computer by the encoder driven by the variable speed drive motor establishes a reference velocity and positions the servo motors.
