摘要: A biological analysis system for performing a performing an assay or experiment includes one or more of a carrier, base, or tray. The carrier, base, or tray is/are configured to interchangeably receive (1) a first block and a corresponding first cover placed over the first block or (2) a second block and a corresponding second cover placed over the second block; The system also includes a computer readable memory comprising instructions for detecting when the second cover is placed over the first block and/or for detecting when the first cover is placed over the second block based on lack of electrical continuity along an electrical path comprising one of the blocks and one of the covers.

摘要: Devices and methods are described for a contrast tray and framing devices for use with imagers. Some embodiments describe a contrast tray for use with an imager comprising one or more light diffusing layers configured to shift at least some of an imaging light and one or more light filtering layers configured to filter out at least some of the imaging light. Light diffusing and light filtering layers can be further configured to upconvert at least some of the diffused and/or non-filtered light. Contrast trays can be used to improve imaging of gels such as PAGE gels when using a green or blue-green light. Other embodiments of the disclosure describe a framing device that provides better illumination and lower background fluorescence for fluorescent gels, such as nucleic acid gels. Framing devices can comprise a mat configured to block out light from a light source and direct all light through a test sample (gel) and a frame to hold a test sample in place and further reduce or prevent light from illuminating materials that are not a part of the test sample.

摘要: A system for biological analysis includes a housing, a block assembly within the housing having a sample block and a baseplate, a heated cover and a cover carrier. The sample block receives a sample holder comprising an RFID tag. A first drive mechanism generates relative movement between the sample block and the baseplate along a first axis. A second drive mechanism generates relative movement between the heated cover and the cover carrier along a second axis that is different from the first axis. Based on a first command the first drive mechanism releasably engages the sample block and operates the second drive mechanism to releasably engage the heated cover with the cover carrier. The system also includes first and second RFID antennas that receive RFID data from the sample holder RFID tag that is read by at least one RFID reader.
