    Abstract: An extender for connecting a high-voltage source to a spark plug has a spring adapted to electrically connect with the high-voltage source and the spark plug, a tube having said spring positioned within an interior passageway thereof, and a boot affixed over an exterior of the tube. The boot is formed of a material having a rigidity less than a rigidity of a material of the tube. The boot has a first end adapted to be connected with the high-voltage source and a second end adapted to be connected to the spark plug such that the spring is in direct electrical connection with the spark plug and the high-voltage source. The tube has one end that is spaced inwardly of the first end of the boot and an opposite end of the spaced inwardly of the second end of the boot.

    Abstract: An ignition coil has a core with a longitudinal axis, a secondary winding extending around the core, a sleeve extending around the core, a primary winding wrapped around the sleeve, and a controller connected to the primary winding so as to oscillate alternating current to said primary winding. The secondary winding has a high-voltage end and a low-voltage end. The primary winding is in spaced longitudinal relationship from the secondary winding. Specifically, the primary winding is located longitudinally away from the high-voltage end of the secondary winding. A bobbin is positioned over and around the core. The secondary winding is wrapped around at least a portion of the bobbin.

    Abstract: An ignition system for an internal combustion engine has a power source, a transformer having first and second primary windings and a secondary winding, a connector extending from the secondary winding and adapted so as to connect with a terminal of the spark plug of the internal combustion engine, and electronic spark timing circuit cooperative with the transformer so as to activate and deactivate voltage to the first and second primary windings. The first and second primary windings are connected to the power source such that the transformer produces an alternating voltage output from the secondary winding of between 1 kHz and 100 kHz and a voltage of at least 20 kV. A forced push-pull inverter is cooperative with the electronic spark timing circuit so as to fix a frequency of voltage to the first and second primary windings.

    Abstract: An ignition coil has a ferromagnetic core, a primary coil surrounding a portion of the core and wrapped helically with a conductor, a winding form having partitions extending outwardly of a tubular surface of the winding form, and a secondary coil wrapped on the winding form. The partitions define a plurality of annular coil chambers including central chambers and end chambers. The end chambers have a spiral land. The secondary coil includes coil sections in each of the plurality of coil chambers. The secondary coil has coil turns in the end chambers in a spiral configuration on the spiral land and increasing progressively in diameter toward the central chambers.

    Abstract: An ignition system for an internal combustion engine has a power source, a transformer having a first primary winding and a second primary winding and a secondary winding, a connector extending from the secondary winding so as to connect with a terminal of a spark plug, and a multi-strike circuit cooperative with the electronic spark timing circuit so as to fire the transformer with multiple strikes between the falling edge and the rising edge. A booster circuit is cooperative at the electronic spark timing circuit so as to collect and store energy from the power source while the electronic spark timing circuit fires the transformer. A delay circuit fires the transformer at a time subsequent to the falling edge and before the rising edge.

    Abstract: A method of firing at least one spark plug of an internal combustion engine include supplying AC power to the spark plug in which the AC power has a waveform with a rising edge and a falling edge, activating the spark plug during the rising edge of the waveform, and deactivating the spark plug during the falling edge of the waveform. This method further includes connecting an engine control module and a vehicle power supply to at least one AC ignition coil and connecting the AC ignition coil to the spark plug or spark plugs. The firing duration of the AC ignition coil or transformer mirrors a digital square waveform duration from the engine control module.
