摘要: A vehicle engine 2 comprises an exhaust system having an exhaust manifold 12 and an exhaust purification device 18. The exhaust manifold 12 is disposed at a predetermined distance from a dash panel 106 constituting a body of the vehicle 100, the exhaust purification device 18 is disposed in a position overlapping a floor tunnel region 114, formed by a floor tunnel of the body, and is disposed below the exhaust manifold 12 and to one side of the center of the engine 2 in the cylinder-array direction, as viewed from the longitudinal direction of the vehicle 100. An exhaust purification device introduction passage 17 connecting the exhaust manifold 12 and the exhaust purification device 18 is disposed on the other side of the center of the exhaust manifold 12 in the cylinder-array direction, and extends below the exhaust manifold 12 to be connected to the exhaust purification device 18.

摘要: Disclosed herein is an exhaust insulator structure for a multi-cylinder engine of a vehicle. The structure includes an exhaust manifold, an exhaust gas purifier, and a heat insulator. The engine is able to switch its mode of operation from an all-cylinder operation in which all of four cylinders thereof are activated to a cylinder-cutoff operation in which two of the four cylinders are deactivated to serve as idle cylinders and the other two cylinders are activated to serve as active cylinders, or vice versa. The exhaust manifold includes: idle-cylinder-connected branched exhaust piping communicating with the idle cylinders; and active-cylinder-connected branched exhaust piping communicating with the active cylinders. A portion of the heat insulator facing the active-cylinder-connected branched exhaust piping has an opening that lets air blowing against the vehicle traveling into the heat insulator.

摘要: Provided is a powertrain for a vehicle in which an exhaust purifier is utilized as a dynamic damper. The powertrain includes an engine, and a transmission linked to the engine. The engine has an exhaust purification system containing a GPF device for purifying an exhaust gas. The exhaust purification system is disposed along a rear external surface of a cylinder head. The exhaust purification system is supported via a first support on the engine. A vertical side portion of the exhaust purification system is located downstream of the first support in a flow direction of an exhaust gas, extending in a direction away from the external surface.

摘要: An engine exhaust device includes: a first catalyst; a second catalyst; and a connecting member shaped into a tube and forming a part of the exhaust path, and connecting the first catalyst to the second catalyst. A downstream end surface of the first catalyst and an upstream end surface of the second catalyst form a dihedral angle within a range from 60 degrees to 120 degrees. A part of the upstream end surface of the second catalyst is close to and faces a part of a side surface of the first catalyst. On a cross-section including a central axis of the first catalyst and being parallel to a central axis of a second catalyst, a length of the part of the side surface of the first catalyst is longer than or equal to 10% and shorter than 50% of an entire length of the first catalyst.

摘要: In order to improve the performance of keeping the temperature of an exhaust purifier when a vehicle is running, an engine is provided with an exhaust passage behind a cylinder head in the vehicle longitudinal direction. The exhaust passage includes an exhaust manifold and an exhaust purification system disposed serially in a flow direction of an exhaust gas, the exhaust manifold being located upstream of the exhaust purification system. The exhaust purification system contains a GPF device configured to purify a gas. The exhaust purification system is located below the exhaust manifold, and is disposed so as to overlap the exhaust manifold in the vehicle transverse direction. The exhaust purification system is also disposed so as to protrude with respect to the exhaust manifold rearward in the vehicle longitudinal direction.

An upstream end portion (52c) of the EGR passage is connected to a lower portion of the exhaust purification system in a vertical direction of the vehicle.
